Rules Q&A
- Q: What's the gold cost of the zero gold cost spells in Kyuden Agasha? Is it zero as in the spell or is it one due to Kyuden Agasha?
A: Kyuden Agasha says, "All Spells you own cost 2 less Gold, to a minimum of 1." That's an effect with a minimum modification. That 2 Gold Reduction from Kyuden Agasha can not carry a Spell's cost below 1. Since the Spell's cost is already less than 1, the minimum value for the reduction won't matter. Martin Lund, "Rules for 1 October 2004", 4 Oct 2004 - Q: Kyuden Agasha reduction of gold for spells is an effect?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 13 December 2003", 13 Dec 2003 - Q: Just a couple quick ones...
If I play Kyuden Agasha, am I able to attach spells during battle?
A: As long as you're attaching them to a personality who's in the battle, yes. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for June 11th - Part Two!", 12 Jun 2003 - Q: If I play with Kyuden Agasha, am I able to play the spell The Wolf's Proposal for 0 gold after playing Scroll Cache?
A: Yes. Kyuden Agasha will not reduce the Gold cost of a Spell that only costs 1g to begin with. This allows Scroll Cache's discount to happen. Jeff Alexander, "post for 28 April 2003", 29 Apr 2003 - Q: Interaction between Inferno Event and Kyuden Agasha

So what happens, do the Kyuden Agasha player can still attach spells, since it's not a Limited but Open for Her or Him?
A: Correct. Inferno does not interfere with their ability to attach Spells. Jeff Alexander, "post for 19 December 2002", 20 Dec 2002 - Q: If I have Kyuden Agasha and I play Scroll Cache, Wich is the cost reduction effect that I have to use?
A: Like the Warrens, the discount on Spells from Kyuden Agasha starts as soon as the game begins, and is not optional. Since it's a cost reduction and it's already in effect when you play Scroll Cache, Cache does not give you any further reduction. Jeff Alexander, "post for 21 November 2002", 22 Nov 2002 - Q: 1. If Moto Gheris is in an army attacking me, can i attatch a spell using Kyuden Agasha as an open or is that considered playing an action card
A: You're using a Stronghold action to put a Spell card into play. That doesn't even come close to "playing an Action card". It's legal. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 August 2002", 6 Aug 2002 - Q: Just a clarification: If my stronghold is Kyuden Agasha and I have an Osugi in play, will the spells that I attach to Osugi cost zero or 1?
A: Zero. Jeff Alexander, "post for 19-22 April 2002", 23 Apr 2002 - Q: Ok, reacting to a ruling here :

No; cost reductions last until something is paid for (Enemy of My Enemy rulesheet).
I didn't see the EomE rulesheet yet, but what I heard is that "until the cost are paid" is a default duration added to "until the end of the turn" for unspecified duration effect.
However, the trait on the stronghold is a trait, well, that's obvious , but my point is, the effect is not applied once, it is constantly applied, so the reduction should be still there after cost is paid.
A: My earlier post has now been corrected (thanks for linking straight to it). Cost reductions with a specified duration -- including "all the time" -- work as they always did. (It's a bit tricky, not having an EoME rulesheet to work from...) Zen Faulkes, "Kyuden Agasha + cost reduction", 12 Apr 2005 - Q: Zen Faulkes wrote:

No; cost reductions last until something is paid for (Enemy of My Enemy rulesheet).
This also applies to CoR, right? Like for Price of Power or other stuffs that calculate unit total gold costs?
A: I have to overrule Zen here. The new rule applies only to cost reductions that do not have an explicit duration and rely on the default duration of "until the turn ends".
The cost reduction from City of Remembrance is continual and lasts all game. It works the same as it did before. Jeff Alexander, "City of Remembrance cost reduction?", 12 Apr 2005 - Q: Zen Faulkes wrote:

A: That's my understanding of the rule. Zen Faulkes, "City of Remembrance cost reduction?", 12 Apr 2005 - Q: When Agasha Kushojin use his ability and your stroghold is Kyuden Agasha, the fear strenght is calculated taking the stroghold discount in account?
A: Yes; the cost reduction is continuous. (Edit: Fixed). Zen Faulkes, "Phoenix related questions", 11 Apr 2005 - Q: Can I play scroll cache out of Kyuden Agasha and use the SH ability to reduce a spell by 2 gold and draw from scroll cache?
A: Kyuden Agasha has a trait, which is not voluntary. Anything with a cost of 2 or more won't have cost reduced by Scroll Cache (
here). You will still have the draw from Scroll Cache. Zen Faulkes, "scroll cache", 11 Apr 2005 - Q: My stronghold is Kyuden Agasha, I play Scroll Cache and attach Purge the Weak. How much gold do I have to play?
A: This one: Zen Faulkes, "Scroll Cache", 31 Mar 2005
