- Q: Where do I get the Fate cards that go under the new Kyuden Hitomi Stronghold, from my deck or from all the cards I own? A: They come from your deck, which must be legally constructed prior to their removal (your remaining Fate deck MAY violate the minimum deck size afterwards). Cards go under it face-down, and you choose which card you get when you use the Stronghold ability. The Imperial Herald, Issue 10, p. 10
Rules Q&A
- Q: If you are drawing 2 cards in your End Phase via Doom of the Dark Lord and you activate Kyuden Hitomi's ability do you draw one card from under Kyuden Hitomi and another from your fate deck or just the one from Kyuden Hitomi and nothing else?
A: Using Kyduen Hitomi replaces the drawing of - a - card, not all cards drawn during the End Phase. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 July 2004", 7 Jul 2004 - Q: Can I draw a card from under Kyuden Hitomi while using Uona Sensei?
A: Yes.
Zen Faulkes! * Crab Clan Scholar * Unaligned Deputy Rules Guy Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 29 August 2003", 30 Aug 2003 - Q: Hi List,
cards says I can put 5 cards under it at the beginning of the game: Do I select which ones or is it random ?
A: You select. Jeff Alexander, "post for 11 October 2002", 12 Oct 2002 - Q: I am trying to enlighten in Gold...stop laughing!! Using Kyuden Hitomi...ok, one more snicker out of you and that's it!! I have a problem with some advice given to me about the Dragon Tattoo to drop the Ring of Air. The wording and the sheer cheese of it is grating on me. Can anyone confirm the ability to use Dragon Tattoo three times in succession to fulfill Air?
A: If you play the Dragon Tattoo on a shugenja, yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 14 February 2002", 15 Feb 2002 - Q: How does Kyuden Hitomi interact with Sacrifices for our Future? Sacrifices for our Future says:
Sacrifices For Our Future(Event) While this card is in play, you may choose not to draw a fate card during your end phase. Each turn in which you do not draw a Fate card you gain 2 honor. If you draw a Fate card for any reason, this card is discarded from play.
Wouldn't it be legal to use the SH ability of Kyuden Hitomi to take a card from underneath it, which wouldn't count as Drawing a fate card? I think so, because this is similar to the reason quoted that Doom of the Dark Lord won't blow up a province if your fate deck is empty but you pull a card out from under Kyuden Hitomi in your end phase...
A: Drawing is specifically taking the top card of your deck and putting it into your hand. Using Kyuden Hitomi instead of drawing will not destroy Sacrifices, and you'll gain 2 honor. Good combo. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for July 20th", 20 Jul 2001 - Q: Does this action [Kyuden Hitomi], since the stronghold says, 'instead of drawing a card, _add_ a card from under...', work with Hitomi Vedai?
A: If you can't get a card from your Fate deck, you can't get one from under the Kyuden Hitomi stronghold, if that's what you're asking. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 14 July 2001", 15 Jul 2001 - Q: Kyuden Hitomi: This doesn't seem to be advantageous, unless the cards under Kyuden Hitomi are face up and you can choose any of the face up cards.
A: They're face down, but you get to pick which you want.
