Rulings
- Erratum: Reads, "Last Gift 0G 3FV Political Open: Permanently give a target Human Personality +1PH." [MRP, Celestial Edition, 29 June 2009] Comprehensive Rules, Celestial Edition, with specific card rulings, final version, February 2012, p. 144
Rules Q&A
- Q: How does it interact with an overlaid personality? Does it just destroy one 'experience level' of the user's choice, or does it destroy the personality wholly.
A: You mean Isawa's Last Wish? The rules are pretty clear: an overlayed card counts as one card for all purposes except honor awards during battle resolution. [GE p. 37] The entire stack would be destroyed. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 March 2003", 19 Mar 2003 - Q: It is not. Changes to printed numbers need to be explicitly worded as such. Most bonuses do not change the printed value.
Permanent changes to Personal Honor do change the printed value, correct? (Last Gift, a Samurai's win from For the Empire, etc)
A: Not correct. A permanent change is just that: permanent. In other words, it lasts for the rest of the game. How long a change lasts has nothing to do with whether it applies to printed or current value. Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 February 2002", 21 Feb 2002 - Q: Relevant text:
Shiryo no Shinjo Cards in this unit cannot be targetted with actions by other players during the battle action segment.
Isawa's Last Gift Battle: Destroy an opposing card. The target's controller then destroys any one of your cards.
If the two are on the same personality, is the Unicorn immune to the Gift?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 16 December 2001", 16 Dec 2001 - Q: I'm sorry if this has been asked (and answered) but I've been offlist for a couple of months.
I did see a ruling upwards of a month ago that said a (face-up) Personality in a Province is still a Personality. Does this mean that cards such as Last Gift and Dark Secrets can target a face-up Personality in a Province? Both cards do not target a "Personality in play" but just a "Personality".
A: All cards, Strongholds, etc. are implicitly restricted to targeting only cards in play by default. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 19 February 2001", 24 Feb 2001
