Rules Q&A
- Q: First is just clarification, following this ItVF question, I assumed that cards removes from the game cannot be removed/destroyed again, so created cards in Shugenja unit under Interrupting the Void's Flow effect will return into play normally. Am I right or they somehow get permanently removed like in any other "leaving play effect"?
Second is about timing in Forward Encampment Battle action: It says "...another's player action destroyed it or it's Personality." If I destroy follower myself (e.g. Legion of Toshigoku) and after that it's former Personality dies from ranged attack, can I bring legion back with FE? Or Personality is no longer considered it's after Legion entering discard pile?
A: Per the CR, when a Created Card leaves play, it ceases to exist. ItVF does not re-create it when it brings the unit back into the game, so the card will still be gone.
"Its Personality" requires the follower to be attached when the Personality is destroyed. Otherwise we could get some really weird interactions with cards that transfer attachments in battle. Jon Palmer, "Two questions", 7 Jun 2015 - Q: A Question that came up last night was this one, which in turn leads to further sub questions.
I have Daigotsu Xp3 in a battle and take control of a generic unit of my opponents containing a Legion of Toshigoku.
In this case he sent the stolen unit home before I could use the actions on it but we were unable to work out when the unit died who would draw the card.
Daigotsu Xp 3 = Battle: Permanently give a target enemy personality with lower Chi Shadowlands. He succumbs to the Dark Lord's will. Take control of him (if you do so, he joins your army). If you now control him, destroy him after this battle ends.
Legion of Toshigoku = Battle: Even if this card is bowed: Destroy this card. Reaction: After this card enters a discard pile from play: Draw a card.
My questions then are who would draw the card in the following circumstances - the answer I expect will be the same in all cases but would like the clarifiction.
a) If the Unit containing the Legion of Toshigoku is sent home and dies at the end of the battle but outside it? b) If I use the ability of the Legion of Toshigoku to destroy it? c) I choose not to use the ability and he dies in the battle as a result of battle resolution or at the end of the battle?
Thanks in advance Az
A: The Reaction is used when the card is in the discard pile, and since a card always goes to its owner's discard pile, only its owner will be able to use the Reaction. Alex Jones, "Daigotsu (xp3) and Legion of Toshigoku", 16 Oct 2009
