Rules Q&A
- Q: Next, does Arrowroot Tattoo require Presence? If somebody in a Battle is spanked, can I instead spankola someone at home who is unbowed and has the Tattoo? I figured as much.
A: Reactions require neither Presence nor Relevance. Those are for Battle and Open actions only. Jeff Alexander, "post for 21 January 2002", 22 Jan 2002 - Q: If Judgement targets the personality with the sword attached why doesn't Arrowroot Tattoo target the personality?
A: Targeting Guideline #2: "An effect that applies only to its own card does not target." Tattoo abilities are put onto the Personality they're played on. Jeff Alexander, "post for 14 December 2001", 15 Dec 2001 - Q: Scenario 2
Player A attacks Player B. A sends Bujun and Daini. B Defends with Toshimoko. B uses Iai Duel on Bujun. A uses Daini's Arrowroot Tattoo. Is Daini saved?
Same answer. No.
Jeff- Since Daini was in battle when he was destroyed, wouldn't Daini be saved? I imagine since it was ruled no matter what card effect kills a personality with a Crane tattoo in battle (e.g. duel, ranged attack, resolution, Wasting Disease) that personality is "saved", as long as you use the Arrowroot during a battle, wouldn't the Crane tattoo still kick in?
A: You know, I read and re-read the question and the card to make sure I didn't screw up like this. Really. Cross my heart.
*sigh*
Yes, Daini can come back via the tattoo since he was in the current battle when he died. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 18 March 2001", 24 Mar 2001 - Q: Scenario 2
Player A attacks Player B. A sends Bujun and Daini. B Defends with Toshimoko. B uses Iai Duel on Bujun. A uses Daini's Arrowroot Tattoo. Is Daini saved?
A: Same answer. No. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 6 March 2001", 18 Mar 2001
