- Because it is played "when" the Tactician trait is used, it allows a Tactician using Superior Strategist to perform a Tactician-requiring action retreived by Superior Strategist immediately. [JA, 8 March 2002] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 83
Rules Q&A
- Q: I've a question regarding use of Lion Scout and White Shore Plain terrain. If i use one of my tacticians for something (superior strategist, ranged attack of Fujimaro, ...) and i use the reaction on Lion Scout, will they still gain force bonus through the terrain? I think not ('cause the wording on the terrain) but i want to be sure.
A: You won't get the terrain bonus. White Shore Plane looks at whether you've used the Tactician trait, not whether you've used it the maximum number of times. Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 January 2003", 21 Jan 2003 - Q: Akodo Yobi Reaction: Draw a card after playing a Terrain from your hand. This is a use of the Tactician trait.
Lion Scout Reaction: Bow when one of your Lion Clan Personalities uses the Tactician trait. The Personality may use the trait one additional time this battle, but it must be a use he or she did not use previously this battle.
White Shore Plain Delayed Terrain Battle: Each Tactician who has not used the Tactician trait for this battle gains a Force bonus equal to his or her Chi.
If I play a WSP and take Yobi's reaction to draw a card and also react with the lion scout for the tactican thing, will Yobi (Satomi and Fujimaro's abilities also spring to mind) still gain the force bonus from the WSP?
A: Lion Scout will not allow a Personality to take a Tactician action and still get a bonus from White Shore Plain. Lion Scout gives the Personality a second use of Tactician -- it does not erase the memory of his first use. Jeff Alexander, "post for 28 August 2002", 29 Aug 2002 - Q: Sorry to repost this question. I might have missed it but I didn't see a ruling on this......could have been lost with all the list duplications.
In my eternal quest to get the most out of my favourite card, I have a question. This doesn't crop up very often but it does every now and again, especially when I'm defending with a lone Tactician and there's a tempting Sorrow's Path nearby.
Can I use Lion Scout's Reaction to react to the playing of SS before fetching Luring Tacs. so that the LT can target the same Tactician?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 March 2002", 9 Mar 2002 - Q: I ask this because it has been ruled before that the playing of the fetched card is part of SS's effect (following a previous question about Toturi's Tactics)......I'm not sure if there's a window of opportunity here to react with the Lion Scout to give the double use of Tactician.
A: The Tactician trait is considered "used" as soon as the action begins resolving without being canceled. (Just as important is the fact that the Lion Scout's Reaction happens "when" Tactician is used, not "after". If it said "after", the answer would be different, because then you would need to wait for the entire thing to resolve before reacting with the Scout.) Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 March 2002", 9 Mar 2002 - Q: This is important when it interacts with 'Lion Scout', 'Luring Tactics' and an oponent's 'Fall on your Knees' (cancelling Lion Scout):
Lion Scout: Reaction: Bow when one of your Lion Clan Personalities uses the Tactician trait. The Personality may use the trait one additional time this battle, but it must be a use he or she did not use previously this battle. Fall on Your Knees: Reaction: Play this card when a player plays a Reaction during the Battle Action Segment. Cancel that Reaction.
A: I don't see what the problem is. You play Sup. Strat., you react with your own Lion Scout, and your opponent cancels the Scout's Reaction with Fall On Your Knees. It seems straightforward to me. Jeff Alexander, "post for 21 February 2002", 22 Feb 2002
