Rules Q&A
- Q: If I use Loyalty Renewed and I killed the guy I stole, can I attack again?
A: Yes (card text, Gold Edition rules, pg. 25). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 September 2003, Part 2", 13 Sep 2003 - Q: So the crazy Russian in our group asked me this...
I'm playing with Ki-Rin. My opponent Kolat Master's the Ki-Rin. My opponent then attacks me with an Ogre Bushi and the Ki-Rin. I play Loyalty Renewed on the Ki-Rin. What happens to the Ogre Bushi?
A: Nothing. By extension of this ruling:
Ki-Rin * Only prevents assigning and moving into Provinces. Personalities dishonored during the battle do not leave. [JA, 11 September 2001]
The Ogre stays in the battle, regardless of whether or not control of the Ki-Rin changes. Vaughn Derderian, "Post for July 15th, 2003", 15 Jul 2003 - Q: This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
A: Please post in plain text (see links at http://l5r.shorturl.com for why and how). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 3 July 2003", 3 Jul 2003 - Q: How does this card interacts with prescence and relevance?
A: The same way other cards do. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 2 July 2003", 3 Jul 2003 - Q: I play Show of good faith on one of my opponent's personality. Then I play Loyalty renewed on it so I gain permanent control of this personality. Can I declare an attack? In other words, is the restriction of show of good faith (not being able to attack my opponent while the personality is under my control) still running after I play loyalty renewed?
There is no break in your control when you play Loyalty Renewed. You are still unable to attack that player, and will remain unable for as long as the stolen Personality remains in play under your control.
The Show of Good Faith Effects dont end at the end of the Turn?
A: No, because it says how long they last. Your control of the Personality last until the end of the turn. Your inability to attack or to move cards/tokens on or off the stolen Personality lasts as long as the control does ("while he or she is under your control"). If your control lasts longer (ex: Loyalty Renewed) or shorter (ex: he dies), so does your inability to attack or transfer. Jeff Alexander, "post for 14 May 2003", 15 May 2003 - Q: if I controlled Moto Chen, then my opponent Kolat Masters him, we get into a battle, and my opponent uses Chen's Tactician trait, and then I take Chen back via Loyalty Renewed in the middle of the battle. The part in the above paragraph that caught my eye was the "Their controller may"...does that mean that even after my opponent uses Chen's Tactician trait in a battle, once I gain control of him in the same battle, I can then use the trait myself?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 22 April 2003", 23 Apr 2003 - Q: if I have Show of Good Faithed someone, can I use Loyalty Renewed to take permanent control of them?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 17 April 2003, Part 2", 18 Apr 2003
