Rulings
- Erratum: Does not prevent actions printed on Strongholds. [Erratum] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 73
- Prevents the default use of the Tactician trait, because the action is in the rulebook, not on the card. [JA, ZF, May 2000] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 73
- Prevents actions that are permitted by traits of cards in play (e.g., Den of Spies, Hantei XVI). [JA, email, 7 December 2000] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 73
- Erratum: actions on Strongholds are also allowed. Text Change & Errata List, February 15, 2000, p. 11
- Q: Can I use the Tactician trait to discard a card for a Force bonus while March of the Alliance is in effect? A: No. The Battle action allowed by Tactician is in the rulebook, not on the card. The Imperial Herald, Issue 16, p. 12
- Erratum: March of the Alliance (HE5): actions on Strongholds are also allowed. The Imperial Herald, Issue 11, p. 27
Rules Q&A
- Q: About the event March of the Alliance. (negate all effects from cards not in play....) Are considered the strongholds cards for this event, for if they are not cards you couldnt use his abilities while the march is in effect, except the ninja stroghold that says that can be played when you cant play actions.?
A: There's errata to that Event. It now prevents actions from cards and Strongholds not in play. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for November 26th", 26 Nov 2000 - Q: No rush, just a gentle reminder since Palmer answered my most recent question but not the previous ones, which I imagine just got buried under the IvE questions.
With the "everything is an action" paradigm, does March of the Alliance restrict things such as Recruiting (with or without Proclaiming), the rulebook Cycle, discarding face-up Dynasty cards EOT (if this is an action too?), ...? viewtopic.php?f=59&t=107147
and
If you play Geisha Assassin on an opponent's personality and lose the duel, can you react with Martyr? viewtopic.php?f=59&t=107166
A: Answered. Sorry we missed those. Jon Palmer, "Pending questions", 21 Mar 2014 - Q: With the "everything is an action" paradigm, does March of the Alliance restrict things such as Recruiting (with or without Proclaiming), the rulebook Cycle, discarding face-up Dynasty cards EOT (if this is an action too?), ...?
A: I'm going to tentatively rule this as a "No", as it's clearly not the intent of March of the Alliance. It does read that way under a literal reading of the cards and the Ivory rules, but I'd assume March is a card that Brook will reword so as not to break the game under the Ivory ruleset.
All the things you described are in fact actions now. Jon Palmer, "March of the Alliance, post-Ivory", 21 Mar 2014
