Rules Q&A
- Q: Doesn't this mean that Beniha's delayed effect ends at the same timing point that the targeted personality's destruction is applied?
A: Sorry. Still discussing that. Brook Cunningham, "Asahina Beniha vs Razor of the Dawn Castle", 18 Apr 2009 - Q: Does this mean that Razor of the Dawn would delay the destruction effect to step D of the conflict list, but the end of turn rulebook effect would go at step C, thus wiping the delayed effect and making Razor essentially complete negation of a destruction effect?
A: And I'm also sorry I missed this bit. Answer: Definitely not.
Whether Razor delays the destruction until before, during, or after the end of the turn, the destruction will still happen.
It seems like you're suggesting that if the destruction gets delayed past the end of the turn, the turn ending will then "shut off" the destruction because of default effect limits or something. But delayed effects don't get "wiped". They are delayed until the time as they occur, even if that time is some time after the current turn. And Instantaneous effects (such as destruction) don't even HAVE a duration to which they COULD default. Brook Cunningham, "Asahina Beniha vs Razor of the Dawn Castle", 18 Apr 2009 - Q: Asahina Beniha
Crane Clan • Air • Shugenja • Courtier Political Open: Target another player's Personality. After the first time this turn he assigns to attack or is destroyed, gain 3 Honor.
Razor of the Dawn Castle
Before another player's card's effect destroys one of your Samurai: Once per turn, you may delay the destruction until the current turn ends.
I make the Benihas ability to a crab clan samurai of my opponent and i destroy him with a "The Bitter Shadow of Shame", for example, and my opponent delayed the destroy with the Razor of the Dawn Castle. Can I win the honor? Thanks.
A: The honor is gained when the Samurai is destroyed: At the end of the current turn. Dan Jacobson, "Asahina Beniha vs Razor of the Dawn Castle", 23 Mar 2009 - Q: Beniha's action reads: "Political Open: Target another player's Personality. After the first time this turn he assigns to attack or is destroyed, gain 3 Honor."
Kohaku's action reads: "Political Reaction: After you gain Honor from an action, bow Kohaku: Target another player. The player chooses whether you gain 1 Honor or he loses 1 Honor."
My question is two fold.
1) Can I use Kohaku's Reaction off Beniha's Open? and 2) If so, when do I use Kohaku's Reaction; When I use Beniha or when I gain honor from Beniha's action?
A: 1) Yes.
2) After you actually gain the Honor. Brook Cunningham, "Asahina Beniha and Doji Kohaku", 15 Jan 2009 - Q: I wrote Asahina Beniha two paragraphs above.
A: Whoops. I apologize for my oversight. Zen Faulkes, "More on Hidden Scandal", 12 Mar 2008
