Rules Q&A
- Q: Does Kolat Master: ignore the "will only join X Clan" trait of Matsu Nimuro, Togashi Hoshi etc.?
A: No. See Dark Allies rulebook, Glossary, "join," page 73. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 8 July 2002", 9 Jul 2002 - Q: ok, heres another one...
player A is a lion, with one Akodo Tadenori, and one Matsu Nimuro in play, while his own Peasant Revolt shows up.
Nimuro bows, and Tadenori doesn't.
but now player A decides to use his lonely Tadenori to destroy anothers player province, using a strenght of purity and tactician trait to improve his force....
now the question:
at the end of the battle, Tadenori bows during the resultion segment, asume player A has a ralling cry in his hand:
[...] AND THE ANSWER IS... d) he can use it. rallying cry PREVENTS tadenori from bowing in the first place.
A: Correct. Jeff Alexander, "post for 28 February 2002", 1 Mar 2002 - Q: Ok How about this.
Player A has peasant revolt and it goes off. Player B Has Matsu Nimuro curently bowed. Since Nimuro is not affected by Peasant Revolt due to the fact that he is already bowed, can he unbow on Player B's next turn?
A: No.
Peasant Revolt has two effects. It bows all Personalities and Followers who are above a certain Force right when it goes off, and for a certain amount of time it prevents all Personalities and Followers who are over a certain Force WHEN THEY TRY TO STRAIGHTEN from straightening -- irrespective of whether they were that large or even in play when Peasant Revolt appeared. Jeff Alexander, "post for 28 February 2002", 1 Mar 2002 - Q: Suppose I have Matsu Nimuro with Celestial Sword in play plus 2 other lions. So Nimuro personally has 9 force, his own 6 + the sword's 3. If I play Command Group and target Nimuro, is the bonus 6 or 9?
A: Nimuro's Force is 9. The bonus(es) would be 9. Jeff Alexander, "post for 13 December 2001", 14 Dec 2001 - Q: eg: Lion attacks me (shocking!) with Matsu Nimuro whom I fend off. On my turn I bo Atoshi and lock Nimoru down. On Lion's next turn he (or she) comes after me (overreacting as usual to a minor comment at court) again and I am forced to ask Toturi Tsudao to "discourage" his unit. I no longer have the favour.
so, does Nimuro immediately straighten (eep) or do I have a grace period to get the favour back.
A: Neither. As soon as you lose the Favor, Nirmuro gets the ability to straighten normally back. In order for you to lock him down again, you have to straighten Atoshi, regain the Favor, and then use his ability again. Nimuro then becomes re-locked. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for August 14th", 14 Aug 2001 - Q: Relevant text: Kakita Atoshi: Atoshi can remain bowed. Political Limited: Bow while you have the Imperial Favor. Select a bowed Personality. The target Personality may not straighten until after one of the following occurs: Atoshi straightens or is destroyed, or you lose the Imperial Favor.
The Emperor's Left Hand: Political Reaction: Cancel any one political action being taken by the player with the highest family honor.
Let's say Atoshi has kept Matsu Nimuro bowed for the last three turns. Lion pulls the E's LH. Can he pay the 1G on Crane's turn to cancel the action & unbow Nimuro on the following turn?
A: No. The action is only 'used' when Atoshi bows to create the effect. After that, it's just an effect with a non-time duration. If, however, Atoshi straightened (or you lost the Favor) and then you tried to use it again, the Left Hand would be legal for play. It can't be used to end the action in the middle of its duration, though. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for July 25th", 25 Jul 2001 - Q: Here, there was a ruling that the "other ruling" was reversed, but the link in the OP's post links to a thread wherein the ruling lists itself as a reversal as well.
Coming back to the thread I linked above, is the ruling confirming that the Egg of P'an Ku can copy Matsu Nimuro xp2's ability or is it a reversal stating that it cannot do so?
A: The Egg of P'an Ku xp may copy Matsu Nimuro xp2's ability. Jon Palmer, "Clarification on Egg vs. Nimuro Ruling", 23 Jul 2014
