Rules Q&A
- Q: Here's a hypothetical situation between a bowed Mirumoto Gonkuro (Yay!!) and a bowed Tsuruchi Nobumoto (Boo!!). Gonkuro casts Strength From Weakness thanks to the Temple. Does Nobumoto straighten as well? I ask because I can think of 2 outcomes:
A: Nobumoto does not unbow. Gonkuro is a Monk for the entire time of Casting the Kiho. Casting goes on all the way through resolving all immediate effects of the Action, so this includes the time where you would have to unbow Nobumoto if Gonkuro was not a Monk.
"Casting" lasts until the last immediate effect concludes, and has done so since 1997 when Dave Williams ruled that Chi Bonuses for / while casting remained through the Duel generated by the Kiho "Facing Your Devils" - which remains on record in the Accumulated Rulings. Martin Lund, "Rules for 20 October 2004", 24 Oct 2004 - Q: Mirumoto Gonkuro is being played out of the Temple of Hoshi. He has a Takao's Jingasa attached and is currently bowed. Is he able to perform kihos?
A: Yes, unless the Kiho requires otherwise. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 17 March 2004", 18 Mar 2004 - Q: Is his gold cost really 6[?]
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 8 December 2003, Part 2", 9 Dec 2003 - Q: I'm attacking Shiro Kitsuki provinces, with a lonely Tsuruchi Arishia, at a province without defenders. He uses the stronghold to place a Samurai with less than four force (Mirumoto Gonkuro, for example) in the battle opposing me. Do I get to resolve Arishia's reaction before my opponent is able to resolve their battle action granted by the stronghold?
A: Yes. You get to respond once all immediate effects have resolved. That the stronghold allows another action doesn't change that it is a separate action. Zen Faulkes, "Tsuruchi Arishia / Shiro Kitsuki", 4 May 2005 - Q: Hello Gentlemen,
My opponent is playing Shiro Kitsuki. Two scenarios:
I'm attacking him, with a lonely Tsuruchi Arishia, at a province without defenders. He uses the stronghold to place a Samurai with less than four force (Mirumoto Gonkuro, for example) in the battle opposing me. Do I get to resolve Arishia's reaction before my opponent is able to resolve their battle action granted ny the stronghold?
What happens if I defend versus an army, pass (or they declare a naval invasion/play a sneak attack) and they again use the Shiro Kitsuki ability. Is the ruling the same. (In other words, does being the active player come into play?)
Thanks, and keep up the good work.
A: Kicked to Rules Junta. Zen Faulkes, "Tsuruchi Arishia / Shiro Kitsuki", 4 May 2005
