Rules Q&A
- Q: This has sort of been bothering me for some time now. I was wondering, when does Mirumotot Gukochi's reaction trigger. Is it after the duel is over, or does it trigger at the same time as say the trait on Blade of Penance.
A: Same trigger as Blade of Penance - after you determine that he's the winner by comparing stat-totals - though Gukochi says, "after" and Blade of Penance says, "when." Martin Lund, "Rules for 29 January 2005", 4 Feb 2005 - Q: My unbowed Mirumoto Gukochi wins a duel during battle. He uses his Reaction adding his 3C to his unit’s total Force.
If my Mirumoto Gukochi has attached a bowed Spearmen, explain me the current Force stats for each card and whole unit: - Current Force of Gukochi (I am not sure) - Current Force of Spearmen (I expect 2F) - Current Force of Unit (I expect 6F)
Can my opponent play an Overconfidence on him after Gukochi used his Reaction?
A: No. Gukochi doesn't say that he adds his Chi to HIS Force - just the Force of his UNIT.
Current Force of Gukochi - 3F Current Force of Spearmen - 2F Crurent Force of Unit - 8F
Gukochi contributes 6F to the Unit thanks to his ability, 3 from his 3F, and 3 from his 3C.
His card, however, does not have 6F. It has 3F. Martin Lund, "Rules for 18 January 2005", 21 Jan 2005 - Q: winning is determine right then cards are shown and you add to stats. So if i (Mirumoto Gukochi) win a chi duel, then wouldn't my chi be a lot ( assuming i focus a lot of cards) when is reaction tiggers giving me a lot of (Force).
A: Correct, but those force bonuses wear off when the duel ends. The force bonus to the unit fluctuates with Gukochi's Chi, rather than being a one-time bonus. (Edit: Correction.) Zen Faulkes, "Mirumoto Gukochi and winning duels", 30 Mar 2005 - Q: so with this no victory ruling, and that winning is determine right then cards are shown and you add to stats. SO if i win a chi duel, then wouldn't my chi be a lot ( assuming i focus a lot of cards) when is reaction tiggers giving me a lot of focus.
ex: gukochi is in a steel on steel, i focus 3 4's and win the duel so my force would become 18? (4+4+4+3 chi) .
A: Not quite.
Gukochi himself would stay 3F.
For the rest of the turn, Gukochi's total unit Force would also include his Chi while he is unbowed. So, assuming he has no attachments or other bonuses, he would be an 18F unit until the duel ended (3F + 15C), then he'd be a 6F unit for the rest of the turn after focusing wore off (3F + 3C).
This is cumulative if he reacts multiple times in different battles.
