- Q: Is Goju Hitomi considered the Most-Recent Printing of Hitomi Experienced 3 from Hidden Emperor? Goju Hitomi says "Experienced 3 Mirumoto Hitomi" and doesn't have the little KYD mark. A: Goju Hitomi is her own card and not an MRP. None of the cards in 1,000 Years are reprintings of existing cards. We tried to put the KYD mark only on cards that had exact title conflicts with existing or potential future cards in the main storyline, so it is not always present. Rules Q&A
- Q: Is Mirumoto Temoru considered a "Hitomi" card, since "Soul of Mirumoto Hitomi" is a bold-faced trait on his card?
A: No. That whole phrase is inseparable, much like "Will not join Phoenix Clan." Jeff Alexander, "replies to 16 June", 20 Jun 2001 - Q: Mirumoto Hitomi has the trait "Followers in this unit are immune to Fear," so that The Face of Fear, which affects the Personality as if s/he were a follower, has no effect on her. Mirumoto Temoru says "Temoru's followers are immune to Fear." Does this mean that he is not immune, as he is not his own follower?
Face of Fear says to treat the Personality "as if he were a Follower." What's implied is, "as if he were a Follower *in this unit*." So for purposes of Face of Fear, yes, treat Temoru as if he were leading himself. Or following himself. There's great yin/yang symbolism in this ruling. ;)
A: I'm going to overrule you, Zen. I think it's ambiguous: "Temoru's Followers" could be interpreted as either "Followers in Temoru's unit" or "Followers attached to Temoru". I believe the latter reading is more natural, which means he, himself, would not count.
This is a REVERSAL. Jeff Alexander, "replies to 9 June (and one from 8)", 13 Jun 2001 - Q: Samurai • Duelist • Experienced 2CW • Loyal • Unique Text Cannot gain Corruption tokens or Shadowlands. After Hitomi enters play, you may create and Equip to her (paying all costs) a +2F/4GC Hand • Obsidian Item with the traits, "Cannot be transferred or destroyed. Hitomi has Shugenja. Has +2C while opposing a Jade card or a Personality with higher Personal Honor." Unstoppable Engage: Target one to three cards in the hand of a player with a unit at this battlefield. He or she shuffles them into their deck and draws that many cards.
In terms of the +2 chi granted by the obsidian hand while opposing a personality with higher personal honor, if you are in a limited or open duel against someone with higher personal honor, will the +2 chi clause kick in?
Per the rule book, “Opposing” refers to cards at the same battlefield, on different sides. So would your opponents cards being on their side, be opposing outside of battle?
A: No. As you read, cards are only "opposing" if they are on opposite sides of a battle at a battlefield. Brook Cunningham, "Mirumoto Hitomi CW and "opposing"", 19 Aug 2015
