Rules Q&A
- Q: Mirumoto Tachiyama reads. Dragon Clan Samurai. While opposed by one or more Personalities in a batle or duel, Tachiyama gains a Force and Chi bonus equal to half the number of cards in the opposing player's hand, rounded down. Does he gain this bonus during a duel outside of battle?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 1 March 2004", 2 Mar 2004 - Q: There are four people playing a multiplayer game, Players A-D. Players A&B are playing against Players C&D. On player C's turn players C&D attack player A, player A defends with a Mirumoto Tachiyama against personalities from both players C&D. Does Tachiyama get i) a bonus equal to half of player C's hand or ii) a bonus equal to half of player C's + player D's hand?
A: The former (card text, Diamond glossary, pg. 102). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 30 November 2003", 1 Dec 2003 - Q: 2) How about duels? I'm not sure (cannot find it in rulebook / archive), but I remember something like 'personalities during a duel are considered opposing' With something like this definition, I have problems with cards like Mirumoto Tachiyama and Blade of Thruths and non-battle duels. (this cards may be in battles, but may use his actions referring to an opposing player, out of a battle?)
A: "Opposing" can also refer to the status of two Personalities in a duel with one another, even outside battles. Jeff Alexander, "post for 14 May 2003", 15 May 2003
