Rules Q&A
- Q: 1. I have Mirumoto Tsuge in play, dishonored and a Ki-Rin's Shrine Exp. He gets a Force of Will played on him, making him 1 chi (thanks to the shrine). By some minor miracle, he wins a duel and gaines honor, and is thus rehonored, what's his Chi and PH?
A: He doesn't have 1 chi from the shrine. He has 0 chi and dies. Remember that copying and swapping effects
create stat bonuses and penalties to modify his Current stats to the new values.
Since Tsuge was a 5 C, 0 PH Samurai, the effect of swapping his Chi and Personal honor manifests in a -5 C
penalty.
So now his Chi is: 4 + 1 - 5 = 0. Martin Lund, "Rules for 13 May 2004", 16 May 2004 - Q: 2. A challenge from Mirumoto Tsuge that is cancelled will not earn him a card, correct?
A: Correct, unless the action creating the duel is canceled so late that the challenge part has time to happen. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 May 2003", 29 May 2003 - Q: Mirumoto Tsuge challenges a bowed Tadenori to a Iaijutsu Challenge, Balance in Nothingness is played. Does Tsuges player still draw a card?
A: No. Balance in Nothingness cancels an action. [card text] The challenge never happens. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 May 2003", 7 May 2003 - Q: If I select Mirumoto Tsuge as may challenger then I may use his ability, true?
A: Sure. Why wouldn't you? He's issuing a challenge. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 August 2002", 6 Aug 2002 - Q: About Mirumoto Tsuge, do you draw a card if the duel is refused
A: Yes. All you need to do is issue the challenge. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 May 2002", 7 May 2002 - Q: Chime of Harmony: "The Chime of Harmony gains +3C while this Personality attaches Spells, creates Spell effects, and uses innate abilities."
Let's say I put this on Mirumoto Tsuge: "Once per turn, after Tsuge issues a challenge, draw a card."
I issue a challenge and draw a card, at which time Mirumoto Tsuge gets a +3 Chi. However, since this is only "while this Personality ... uses innate abilities", will he still have the +3 Chi in the duel itself, or only while I am drawing a card?
A: Only while drawing the card. Enjoy your short-lived bonus. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 January 2002", 30 Jan 2002
