- Erratum: Reads, "Mirumoto Uso 3F/4C 0HR 9G 3PH Dragon Clan Samurai. Mirumoto Daimyo. Experienced. Unique. You can focus two cards at a time for Uso's duels, in any order." [MRP, Gold Edition, 1 July 2001] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 114
- Although he uses two cards, Uso only focuses once. He may use both during Iaijutsu Art. [VRD, 8 November 2000] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 114
- Focusing two cards can be combined with an effect that provides a Focus for the duel, even if that Focus is worded as occuring before the duel (e.g., Oracle of Fire). [Reversal, JA, 5 June 2002] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 114
- If Uso focuses a card from somewhere other than your hand, the other card must come from your hand. [JA, 23 May 2002] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 114
Rules Q&A
- Q: Some one posted this combo some where. To me it sound a little ify so i wondered if some one could say yes it works and is leagal or not it doesn't.
"Take one Mirumoto Uso exp, put on him the dragon ancestor to make duels a duel of personal honor, give him double chi (via kiho or Tusdao's tanto), and Ij. Art with him
Focus in this order, a Rend the soul, followed by a Let your spirt guide you, you just focus a 40 (10 for rend and 15 for LYSGY), you tie because of rend, so you are both dishonor, play a honorable sep. and gain 43 honor. This can be done on the 3rd turn. Have fun. "
A: Looks legal to me. Jeff Alexander, "post for 2 June 2003", 3 Jun 2003 - Q: Consideringthe following combo: I play a Iajatsu Art with Mirumoto Uso (4Chi 3 Ph) against a Personality with 5 Chi and 2 PH. My Personality has Tsutomu no Shiryo attached. I use the ancestors ability to change the duel to PH. He focuses a 3, I focus a Rend the Soul. This changes the duel to a tie. After the duel I play Honorable Sepuku, how much honor do I gain?
A: 8. Your Personality has a Personal Honor of 8 until the duel ends, because focuses last that long. Iaijutsu Art dishonors the loser -- that happens during duel resolution, which is still part of the duel. When Honorable Seppuku is played, your focus is still in effect.
The important thing to realize is that cards like Rend the Soul and Kharmic Strike do not change the duelists' stats when they make the duel a tie. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 May 2003", 29 May 2003 - Q: Okay. This is probably a stupid question to ask, but if you use Iaijutsu Art with Mirumoto Uso, is he allowed to focus two cards when he focuses? Just wondering.
A: Yes. It's one focus, two cards. Jeff Alexander, "post for 15 January 2002", 16 Jan 2002 - Q: If I use Kitsu to attach Shiryo no Kakita to Mirumoto Uso(exp) how many cards to I get to focus.
A: When Uso focuses two cards, you can use Shiryo no Kakita's trait on one of those focuses. You get three cards out of that. The rest of the time, you can only focus two cards. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for November 23rd", 23 Nov 2000
