If the player announcing the action on Misleading Wasteland has no units at the current battlefield, how can he legally announce the action on Misleading Wasteland given that it only moves enemy units to its battlefield?
A: Misleading Wasteland cannot be used without Presence as it only moves enemy units - it can't create Presence for its controller. Alex Jones, "Misleading Wasteland and Presence", 15 Oct 2009 - Q: Misleading Wasteland reads-Battle: If the current battlefield is at this province, bow this card: Move a target enemy personaility home or to the current battlefield.
Can this be used with out presence? Thanks!Q
A: Yes. http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Battles#Rule_of_Presence: "The Rule of Presence: Battle actions can only be taken by a player who controls a unit at the current battlefield.
"EXCEPTION: A player who controls no units at the current battlefield may take a Battle Action whose costs or effects say they are able to move one or more of his units there." Emphasis added; it meets the exception if you're moving the unit into battle.
CORRECTION: Since Misleading Wasteland's ability only moves enemy units, it cannot create Presence by moving one of your units in. See below. ALJ
(Yup, missed seeing the word "enemy" in there. Sorry! Thanks, Alex!) Zen Faulkes, "Misleading Wasteland and Presence", 15 Oct 2009
