Rules Q&A
- Q: Can I use the reaction of Shosuku senseï on a range attack performed by Moshi Kekiesu. I know it will not increase Kekiesu's range attack, but is it still legal to do this ?
A: Kekiesu says, "Bow Kekiesu for a Ranged 2 Attack that is compared against Chi and that may target a Personality with attached Followers. The strength of this ranged attack may not be increased."
Shosuku says, "Once per turn, increase the strength of one of your ranged attack targeting single card by 2. This attack bows its target instead of destroying it. Gain 2 Honor if the target bows."
Yes, it is still legal to do this, just as it is legal to play a Kolat Assassin if you are a Shadowlands Horde player. There is no reason for an Action to be illegal just because one EFFECT of an Action will be prevented. The strength increase is Negated and the other effects (bow instead of kill, gain 2 Honor if the target bows) resolve as normal. Martin Lund, "Rules for 4 October 2004", 6 Oct 2004 - Q: Is there anything that prevents Moshi Kekiesu from shooting at followers (very effective, as they have 0 chi, usually)? Is there any restriction that prevents her from shooting provinces, using Castle of the Wasp?
A: She's very effective at shooting Followers. It is fair game.
She can reduce the Province's Strength with Castle of the Wasp. Castle of the Wasp changes the effect of the ranged attack. It is still a Strength 2 Ranged Attack. Martin Lund, "Rules for 8 September 2004", 10 Sep 2004 - Q: A quick question regarding her odd ranged attack. Is it considered a chi loss?
A: No. Normal ranged attacks don't reduce Force -- they only kill the target if its Force is low enough. Kekiesu works no differently with Chi. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 4 Feb. 2004", 5 Feb 2004
