Rules Q&A
- Q: Can Asako Bairei unbow holdings with his battle ability?
If so, was this intentional?
A: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=62593
Still on the first page even. Chris Fuchs, "Asako Bairei xp3 and Holdings", 19 Oct 2007 - Q: Does Asako Bairei EXP 3 bow to use his ability?

Your water sugenja need not bow as a cost to perform water actions
Water Battle: Even if he is not at the current battlefield, bow Bairei: Straighten up to 4 target bowed cards.
From the special GenCon announcements on the L5R website:
A reference to a “(Keyword) Spell,” a “(Keyword) card,” or a “(Keyword) Action card” can also refer to a Spell or Action card with an ability that has that keyword.
While Bairei is obviously a water sugenja with a water action, he is not a Spell or Action card.
Does he bow?
A: This Asako Bairei - Experienced 3 card of which you speak - it wouldn't happen to be a Preview Card, would it?
We don't do rules questions on Preview Cards so early around these parts. Martin Lund, "Asako Bairei EXP 3", 23 Aug 2007 - Q: When Isawa cast a spell, can I use the reaction on Kyuden Tombo to draw a card?
A: I'm going to say no here, too. Look at action cards: action cards don't enter play, but I doubt anyone would want to argue that you could use Kyuden Tonbo after resolving the effects of an action card. Zen Faulkes, "Questions about Isawa and Asako Bairei", 3 Mar 2005 - Q: Can i use (Asako Bairei's) second abilitiy to draw a card after a surged unit containing spells returns to play?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Questions about Isawa and Asako Bairei", 3 Mar 2005 - Q: (D)oes this happen in my turn or in my opponent's turn?
A: When the unit returns to play, before your turn (Suitengu's Surge text). Zen Faulkes, "Questions about Isawa and Asako Bairei", 3 Mar 2005 - Q: Can those spells be recovered with The kami watch over me?
A: I'm going to say no, because it did have effects that resolved. Zen Faulkes, "Questions about Isawa and Asako Bairei", 1 Mar 2005 - Q: When Isawa cast a spell, can I use the reaction on Kyuden Tombo to draw a card?
