Rules Q&A
- Q: Player A attempts to play For the Empire on player B's Samurai. Player B uses Moto Gurban to cancel it. Player A plays Keen eye and negates Moto Gurban reaction..Or does it?
A: Keen Eye can't be played against Gurban's ability. Gurban's ability gets played when the player using For the Empire gets to the targeting step of playing the Action. He picks a legal victim for the Action, then Gurban Cancels it. No Challenge or Duel ever happens. There is no timing window for Keen Eye, which must be played during a Challenge or Duel. Martin Lund, "Rules for 27 August 2004", 31 Aug 2004 - Q: 2.) Has there been any decision regarding the Moto Gurban/Senpet Scimitar interaction, that came up about a month ago, as of yet?
A: Well, since the Scimitar can increase itself in battle, sure, it can increase Gurban's bonus in battle too. If you manage to attach the Scimitar to her in battle while she it opposed, it will increase the bonus she gets from it from +4 to +5 and the bonus she gets from herself from +1 to +2. Martin Lund, "Rules for 19 May 2004", 22 May 2004 - Q: If this is done to Moto Gurban, she would likewise gain +1 for having a weapon and then an addtional +1f due to recieiving a force bonus being opposed correct?
A: Sounds good to me. Going from 3F to 10F for attaching one little item sounds like good beats. Martin Lund, "Rules for May 4, 2004", 7 May 2004 - Q: Moto Gurban, if she has 0 personal honor before she triggers her ability does she commit seppuku? The card reads if her *new* personal honor is 0, she commits seppuku. If she was dishonored or has a 0 PH before she triggers her ability wouldn't there be no in her personal honor thus no "new" PH or 0.
A: "New" won't require an actual change in the current value. It just distinguishes the time of reference. That's all. Think of it as a freshly-minted "zero" if you want to, but if you bring Platonic Forms into this discussion, I'm setting the flying monkeys on you ... Martin Lund, "Rules for May 4, 2004", 7 May 2004
