Rules Q&A
- Q: I have two followup questions for the rules lists for 11 and 12th of January.
<> <>From: Jeff Alexander <jalexander@a...> <>Date: Tue Jan 11, 2005 12:52 pm <>Subject: Re: [L5R-CCG] [RULES] Moto Ogedei & chi <>penalty tokens <>So, I'm still waiting on a ruling of how Tsukimi exp <> interacts with
negating a chi penalty from a token.
I never saw the original question.
Was the question, "Does she negate it entirely, or just for the current turn, then the penalty happens anyway if its source still exists?" If so, the answer is "the former".
Will Asahina Sekawa chance a token or other permanent effect permanently too?
A: No. Martin Lund, "Rules for 17 January 2005", 21 Jan 2005 - Q: So, I'm still waiting on a ruling of how Tsukimi exp interacts with negating a chi penalty from a token.
A: I never saw the original question.
Was the question, "Does she negate it entirely, or just for the current turn, then the penalty happens anyway if its source still exists?" If so, the answer is "the former". Martin Lund, "Rules for 11 January 2005", 14 Jan 2005 - Q: Hello
The WoE Rulesheet (Token) only treat the "inmmediate effects" of tokens, not the ongoing effects. I think that Ogedei must die the turn before the chi penalty token is created, because the -1C given by the token is not considered an effect at that time.
If I put a -1C token on Ogedei, he will not die because "Any card or action that creates a token is considered just as much the source of all the token’s immediate effects as the token itself is", and Ogedei's Chi is not reduced.
But the inmediate effects end at the end of turn.
A: No. Stop. The -1C from the token is the exact same effect next turn as it is this turn. It doesn't start over. It's not a new effect next turn. It is still the same effect as the one that began when the token was created, so it still comes from the creating card as well, and does not apply to Ogedei.
The rule on the rulesheet only applies to new or different effects that begin after the token is created, such as moving it to a new Personality. Martin Lund, "Rules for 10 January 2005", 13 Jan 2005 - Q: Would Moto Ogedei be considered to be immune to the effects of "Poisoned thread"?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Moto Ogedei + Poisoned thread", 5 Mar 2005
