Rules Q&A
- Q: Another one. Lion vs Shadowlands. Lion attaches the celestial sword to one of his personalities. The Shadowlands reacts with Muchitsujo, and attaches the sword to one of his shadowlands personalities. Can he do that ?
A: No. The Sword must go on a different Personality that the Lion player could have played it on originally. [GE p. 47] Jeff Alexander, "post for 31 March 2003", 1 Apr 2003 - Q: This came up in a game and I wasn't sure how to rule...
The Dragon player attempts to attach the Dragon Sword without cost to Togashi Hoshi. The Shadowlands player redirects the attachment with Muchitsujo to Rosanjin. So... a) The sword attaches to Rosanjin without cost? b) The sword returns to the Dragon player's hand because costs weren't paid? c) The Dragon player must pay the cost of 8 gold if possible as he has already announced the attempt to attach?
A: a). Muchitsujo reacts to the attachment, not the targeting. It does not react until all costs have been paid and the Sword is already on its way to the table. Jeff Alexander, "post for 24 March 2003", 25 Mar 2003 - Q: What is the order of events in the following situation?
At a battle, I have Muchitsujo, the Onisu of Chaos with the following "Reaction: Once per turn, after a unit assigns to a battle during a Cavalry Maneuvers Segment or moves into a battle, bow that unit". At the battle, Daidoji Rekai comes galloping in with her "Battle: Once per turn, move Rekai into the current battle and have her make a Ranged 3 Attack that cannot combine with other ranged attacks, without bowing."
My assumption is, as soon as Rekai "moves" into the battle, that is the trigger for Muchitsujo's reaction, which will then stop the Ranged 3 attack ... right?
A: Bowing her won't stop the ranged attack. Even destroying her with Slaughter the Scout won't. [FOU rulesheet] The "without bowing" on Rekai overrides the standard rule that ranged attacks require bowing the shooter, nothing more. Jeff Alexander, "post for 19 March 2003", 20 Mar 2003 - Q: 2. Can Muchitsujo redirect an attatchment to the other players bowed people or is that not a legal target, and also can he redirect it from the other players to your own cards, or again is that not a legal target?
A: Muchitsujo can redirect the attachment to any other Personality that the player could have attached the card to originally. [card text, and GE p. 47] Typically, you won't be able to redirect it to one of the player's bowed Personalities or to someone that player doesn't control. Reaction: Bow before another player attaches a card from his or her hand to one of his or her Personalities to redirect the attachment to another legal target. Reaction: Once per turn, after a unit assigns to a battle during a Cavalry Maneuvers Segment or moves into a battle, bow that unit."
If I bring an Item into play can another player bow Muchitsujo to attach that item to one of his cards?.
A: When redirecting any action (or even a non-action effect), the new target must be as legal as the old one. You cannot normally attach Items from your hand to your opponent's Personalities, so Muchitsujo cannot normally force you to attach them there either. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 November 2002", 6 Nov 2002 - Q: 15.Muchitsujo
can you use his reaction when not in battle, to bow a moving sunetra or somthing?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 August 2002", 27 Aug 2002
