- Erratum: Reads, “Muketsu 7F/4C –HR 8G 0PH Spider Clan • Monk • Shadowlands • Experienced • Unique • Lose 5 Honor. Reaction: Even if Muketsu is bowed, after a Ring bows: Give a target Personality a –2C token.” [MRP, Samurai Edition, 25 July 2007] Comprehensive Rules, Samurai Edition, with specific card rulings, final version, May 2009, p. 148
Rules Q&A
- Q: If, however, Muketsu were to give Sozen a total of 2 -2C tokens (therefore putting him on 0 Chi), and was then removed from the game, the game state "forgets" the card.
A: On what basis on you saying this? This is not a rhetorical question, I'd really like to know. Because my quick search couldn't find anything saying the source of effects is "wiped" after a card leaves play. Which would mean Hida Sozen (Experienced 2) would not be destroyed if the source of tokens leaves play or the game. Zen Faulkes, "Hida Sozen xp2 + -Chi tokens", 16 Mar 2009 - Q: It's said here that tokens are continous effects.
A personality with a Resilient Naginata or Gift Armor is immune to Muketsu xp's -2 Chi tokens, as the chi penality is continually negated. If either item is transfered away, however, the chi penalty from the token would reassurt itself, would it not?
A: You know, it strikes me as rather impolite to ask a question and then answer it yourself. What am I even doing here? ( ) Brook Cunningham, "Continual Negation and tokens", 7 Jun 2008 - Q: During the Battle Action phase, I assign Muketsu xp to a different battlefield than the one my opponent has assigned his attackers. I Ring of Water another one of my personalities into the battlefield; Can Muketsu xp's Reaction target one of my opponents personalities even if he (Muketsu) is not at the current battlefield?
Thank you.
A: Reactions are not subject to the rules of Presence, Location, or Relevance. Chris Fuchs, "Muketsu xp and Targeting", 13 Jul 2007 - Q: Since I believe the rules team is answering general rules questions about Samurai Edition (but not about new cards) this is about 3 or 4 already printed cards and their interactions with each other.
Most specifically, Chi Death and Traits/Actions that Negate Destruction.
I am to understand that Chi death is now ruled to be coming from an effect that is caused by the card that created the final chi loss.
Muketsu gives -2C tokens out when a ring bows (like candy!)
Hida Yaheiko is a 5F/2C Berseker personality that has a Reaction that reads "Whenever another player's card effect would destroy Yaheiko: Negate the destruction"
If Muketsu were to give give her a -2C token, and I were to use her reaction what would happen?
A) Yaheiko negates the effect, and the token is eliminated/made into a -0C token.
B) Yaheiko negates the destruction effect, but the chi penalty remains, and is destroyed immediately thereafter.
Hida Sozen (Experienced) has the trait that he cannot be destroyed by other player's actions. Assuming he were to be reduced to 2C by other means and then be given a -2C token from Muketsu, what would happen?
A) His trait triggers and the action's effects fail. Hida Sozen still has 2 Chi.
B) His trait triggers and the action's effects succeed, but Sozen cannot be destroyed by them, thus Sozen has 0 Chi and does not die.
C) His trait triggers and the action's effects succeed, the first instance of 0 Chi does not kill him but he still has 0 Chi afterward, and the rulebook effect destroys him.
Did I mention I hate Chi death as a mechanical aspect of this game?
My own snide comments aside, thank you for answering this question.
