Rules Q&A
- Q: In general - are Onisu considered Oni or not?
A: No. Onisu does not carry an implicit "oni" trait anywhere in the Rules, nor can you break up a word like Onisu or Farmlands into their component parts. No using Oni-based cards on Onisu. No bowing Farmlands to pay for using Simple Huts. Martin Lund, "Rules for 27 July 2004", 30 Jul 2004 - Q: My friend had 3 units out...
1 had a Dark Wings, and one was Nairu no Oni and the other was a random oni
He assigned 2 units (1 dark wins and NOT the oni) to my right most province, his Nairu stayed home...
He then chose to resolve my left most province first, in that battle sequence he bowed Nairu (Battle: Bow Nairu no Oni to move another Oni Personality from one battle to another) to move his other oni in the battle to that province, he then used dark wings to move his other unit to that province...
At the time I pulled him up because Nairu's action is battle, but now that I think about it, I think it's legal.
Can someone give me an answer.
A: His use of Nairu no Oni was legal. It gave him a unit in the current battle, so it satisfied both rules of Presence and Relevanct, and Nairu no Oni does not have any text requiring him to be in the battle itself to use its action. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 16 Feb. 204", 18 Feb 2004
