Rules Q&A
- Q: Just wondering how the interaction works. When I looked up Mo5 I saw that there was errata to the card and to me it appeared to not change it at all, so I was wondering what that errata was intended to do and if it interacted at all with Naka Tokei(xp2) being able to perform one action that satisfies Mo5s win condition?
A: Yes. Naka Tokei (xp2) wins Master of Five. He's that good. Martin Lund, "Rules for 28 August 2004", 2 Sep 2004 - Q: My opponent is playing shadowlands and controls the experienced 2 version of Naka Tokei. Tokei therefore has the shadowlands trait. I control Water Dragon, if I use Water Dragon to copy Naka Tokeis innate ability, would Water Dragon gain the ability to straighten a unit since WD does not technically have the Shadowlands trait. Or would he gain the ability Bow a unit since Tokei has the Shadowlands trait?
A: Naka Tokei says, "Elemental Limited: Once per turn, straighten a card if Tokei does not have the Shadowlands trait, or bow a card if he does."
Remember that self-reference by name is considered to simply be "this card." If any other card copies Naka Tokei's ability to itself, that card would say, "Elemental Limited: Once per turn, straighten a card if [this card] does not have the Shadowlands trait, or bow a card if he does."
That means the ability copied to the Water Dragon bows or straightens based on whether or not the Water Dragon has the Shadowlands trait, not Naka Tokei. Martin Lund, "Rules for 19 July 2004", 20 Jul 2004 - Q: How so? I announce Suiteru-chan's action and choose Shukumei as the sacrifice. I choose Shukumei, Iuchiban, Naka Tokei and Suiteru as the locations of the follower tokens.
All announcements have been made and decisions have been made (since you have to do all of your targeting before the action begins to resolve).
A: [MARTY] To be more clear, this is what has happened:
You've declared / announced your Action.
You've chosen all your Targets.
Now you're moving on to "Pay Costs." Martin Lund, "Rules for 25 June 2004", 28 Jun 2004
