Rules Q&A
- Q: One of my opponent's personalities has been targetted by my Ninja Kidnapper when Renewed Energy goes off. If he has enough unbowed gold, and no other unbowed personalities, is he forced to pay to unbow his kidnapped personality?
A: No. You can't take an Open action in the middle of resolving another action. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 9 December 2003, Part 2", 10 Dec 2003 - Q: Concretely, if my opponet targets one of my personalities with 'Ninja Kidnapper' and then names this personality with Shoju Sensei. How can I obtain an Honor Victory?. Can I target this bowed personality? (see Shoju sensei text: Until the end of the game, card effects that would prevent your opponents from targeting the personality are negated.)
A: You can't target him with actions while he's bowed, no. This is a rulebook effect and not a card effect, so Shoju Sensei doesn't allow you to ignore it. Again, this works no differently under Gold Edition than it did before. Jeff Alexander, "replies to 6-9 July 2001", 19 Jul 2001 - Q: if my opponet targets one of my personalities with 'Ninja Kidnapper' and then names this personality with Shoju Sensei. How can I obtain an Honor Victory?
A: Pay 10G. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 10 July 2001", 11 Jul 2001 - Q: Jade Extended question: Can I use the Ninja Stronghold to pay for a Ninja Kidnapper? it seems like it should, but there's a bit of intuition that tells me I should ask.
A: Yes. That reminds me, I need to fix the Oracle wording on Ninja Stronghold. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂 Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 10 Feb 2024 - Q: I remember it applying to ninja kidnapper I think originally anything coming out of your hand was entering play Not just stuff that stayed on the board It did not enter play if you discarded it The rules were a lot simpler until gold or post gold or so.
A: Then it should work for Events, too. Alex Jones, "Oracle of the Void #rules", 21 Sep 2022
