Rules Q&A
- Q: I have a single Ninja at the current battlefield. My opponent announces an action on a Strategy, I react with Ninja Tricks. He reacts with Bad Kharma to my Ninja Tricks. Can I announce another Ninja Tricks, reacting to the Bad Kharma, even though I won't be able to meet the costs of the original once I pay for the second copy?
A: Yes, you could do that. No rule prevents it.
Then, the first Ninja Tricks would need to be dealt with per the Rules on Interference with Mandatory Costs. Brook Cunningham, "Multiple Ninja Tricks", 6 May 2012 - Q: In regards to this: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=97217#p1282602
I assume that if the player playing Iron Will has a second copy in his hand, the window still exists to play the second copy?
1. Player A announces Ninube Shiho's action and targets Player B's Paragon. 2. Player B announces Iron Will in response to the targeting. 3. Player A announces Ninja Tricks in response to the announcement, bowing Shiho for its cost. 4. Ninja Tricks resolves, negating the effects of Iron Will. *5. It is now Player A's opportunity to react to his own targeting of Shiho's action. He passes, as the action is currently going to proceed. *6. Player B now reacts again to the targeting with a second copy of Iron Will.
Is this sequence essentially correct?
A: After the Iron Will resolves (or fails to), you're still in the timing step for playing Reactions - Step D of the Timing Sequence - to "After a player targets a card with an action", so another copy of Iron Will may be played. Alex Jones, "Timing window - e.g. Ninja Tricks/Iron Will", 6 Apr 2012 - Q: I have Ninube Shiho by itself at a battlefield. I announce that I will take Shiho's action, and the enemy player reacts with Iron Will. If I react to Iron Will with Ninja Tricks paying the 1g and bowing Ninube Shiho, do the effects of Shiho's action continue because Shiho was straight when it was announced at the beginning of this sequence?
A: Yes, that's right. Brook Cunningham, "Ninja Tricks vs Iron Will", 5 Apr 2012 - Q: Can you prevent a terrain from entering play using Ninja tricks? Is "putting the card into play" considered an effect?
A: Yes, and yes.
And after failing to enter play, the Terrain Strategy would be discarded per the normal sequence of playing a Strategy. Brook Cunningham, "Terrains and Ninja Tricks", 6 Feb 2012 - Q: If I play a strategy with an additional cost associated with it, like Reckless Rush, I still have to pay that additional cost correct if Ninja Tricks is played?
Will Ninja Trick negate the effect of straightening my personality?
A: Yes, and yes.
Note the difference between Ninja Tricks and Iron Will, the latter of which not only negates the action's effects but also allows you to ignore the costs.
And the straightening of your Personality is a delayed effect of Reckless Rush, so it would also be negated. Brook Cunningham, "Ninja Tricks", 1 Feb 2012
