- Erratum: Reads, "Northern Provinces of the Moto 7PS 5GP 4FH Bow the Northern Provinces of the Moto to produce 7 Gold when paying for a Cavalry Follower. Battle: Switch the locations of two of your unbowed Cavalry Personalities that this action has not targeted this turn. You may do this when your Stronghold is bowed." Rules Q&A
- Q: It is like Moto Kumary switches the position with the Northern Provinces of the Moto (considered a movement) and issue a challenge in a different battle where the action was taking.
A: It doesn't matter where the Action is taking place. What matters is whether or not Kumari moved into the current battle or not. If Kumari moved into the current battle, then his Reaction which mentions an "opposing" Personality is legal.
If Kumari moved into any battle other than the current one, his Reaction would not be legal due to it saying, "opposing." Martin Lund, "Rules for 11 December 2004", 13 Dec 2004 - Q: #1: Will Northern Provinces of the Moto buy the Demanding Gunso with Cavalry (that is: Does my choice to give Demanding Gunso the Cavalry Trait) happen in time to let the NP produce 7.
A: Yes, it will happen in time to let Northern Provinces of the Moto produce 7 for the card. Martin Lund, "Rules for 1 May 2004", 4 May 2004 - Q: I had a quick rules question, and couldn't find it quickly on L5R-CCG Archive.
With Northern Provinces of the Moto, if two units are switched (since it's considered movement) and the movement of one of the units out of their battle is negated with a use of the Right Hand, where do both units end up, in their original locations or in the same battle?
A: In their original locations. [Archive, in the Battles section] If one movement is prevented, the units can't "switch", and if they can't switch, neither one moves. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 9-10 March 2004", 11 Mar 2004 - Q: Hi! We have here a strange problem. Some unicorns players claim that if you have two personalities in the same battle (one or both of the Moto Latomu (Reaction: After an action moves Latomu into a battle, bow Latomu for a Ranged 4 attack, or make a Ranged 2 Attack without bowing.))
and switch them using the Northern Provinces of the Moto.
(Battle:Switch the locations of two of your unbowed Cavalry Personalities that this action has not targeted this turn. You may do this when your Stronghold is bowed.)
then Moto Latomu can use his ranged attack.
If they are in the same battle, there is no movement, and the "moves in" on latome doesn´t kick, I think.
A: You are correct. There is no movement if the unit does not change locations. No movement means no reactions to movement. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 2-3 March 2004", 4 Mar 2004 - Q: Does the ability to switch the locations of two of your unbowed calvery personalities also include moveing any items and/or followers that were attached to the two personalities?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 29 November 2003", 29 Nov 2003 - Q: Ambush and Northern Provinces of the Moto: Even though I can't move someone in, could I use the Northern Provinces ability to move someone out of an ambush, kinda like how Kwanchai used to in Gold?
A: No. Kwanchai has two movement effects. Northern Provinces has one. Kwanchai and the Unicorn stronghold are not worded the same, and not surprisingly, they don't work the same. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 16 November 2003", 16 Nov 2003 - Q: is the Northern Provinces of the Moto *supposed* to have a 7 province strength?
A: There are no errata to the stronghold.
Zen Faulkes! * Crab Clan Scholar * Unaligned Deputy Rules Guy Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 1 November 2003", 1 Nov 2003 - Q: Player A attacks one of Player B's provinces with Ide Sadanobu, and attacks another province with Moto Latomu. Latomu has a Dai-kyu attached. Player A uses Northern Provinces of the Moto to switch Latomu and Sadanobu, reacting to the movement with Latomu's ranged attack. Can Latomu then combine his ranged attack with that of his Dai-kyu?
A: No; combining is only an option when Ranged Attacks are made as a Battle action (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 63). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 24 September 2003", 24 Sep 2003 - Q: These are some general questions mostlry related to the above.
- Does the "Northern Provinces of the Moto" abilty works with units led by bowed personalities ?
A: No. Vaughn Derderian, "Post for June 19, 2003", 19 Jun 2003 - Q: Part the Third: Does the answer change if goes home from the first battle (if home he does go), and comes back with Rallying Cry + Northern Provinces of the Moto
A: The answer does not change. This is a different battle, so none of Rend the Soul's restrictions apply. Jeff Alexander, "post for 2 April 2003", 4 Apr 2003
