Rules Q&A
- Q: I was wondering what exactly happens when you use Rekai's ability to shoot into a battle and modify it with Not Another Step, can you move into a battle next to one which has units in it and shoot something in the battle next to the one Rekai is moving into.
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 25 August 2003", 25 Aug 2003 - Q: If so, can he use Not Another Step ["Reaction: Play before one of your Personalities with 3 or greater Chi performs a ranged attack. This ranged attack may target a card in an unresolved adjacent battle."]?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 January 2002", 9 Jan 2003 - Q: 2) Let's say I use Delicate Calculations ["Limited: You may attack two players at once this turn. Each player may ally with only one other Player. Each Maneuvers Segment occurs only once. During each battle, only the Province's controller is the Defender. Effects that move cards into or out of battles may move them into or out of any battles in the attack."] to attack players A and B. Are any of player A's provinces ever adjacent to any of player B's provinces for cards that refer to an adjacent province or battle (e.g. Moto Chaozhu, Not Another Step)? Does it matter whether players A and B are sitting next to each other?
A: No and no. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 January 2002", 9 Jan 2003 - Q: This may seem kind of silly, but can I use Not Another Step for a combined ranged attack?
A: As long as the Personality participates, yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 13 August 2002", 14 Aug 2002 - Q: But [Daidoji Rekai Exp 2 + Not Another Step] is legal if she is at a battle and adjacent to the battle in question?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 13 July 2002", 13 Jul 2002 - Q: Can I have Rekai MOVE into prov B and use Not Another Step to kill a personality in any other NON-resolved battle?
A: Surprisingly, no, based on Jeff Alexander's post of 20 June.
]] Can I use no hiding place to bring Daidoji Rekai Exp. 2 as an ]] attacker into a battle with no defenders if there is a personality ]] in the defenders home? ] ] No. "Play before producing a Ranged Attack from exactly one of your ] attacking cards IN THE CURRENT BATTLE..."
Following that, no battle is "adjacent" when Rekai begins her action, so Not Another Step can't be used. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 July 2002", 13 Jul 2002 - Q: The season of the Mantis booklet in the tourney kit says that first place should be given the Foil Not Another Step, but the cards supplied in our kit were missing this foil. Is this a printing error, packaging error, or are the 10 koku cards in as subsitute?
A: It was a printing error in the instructions. The Tournament Organizer is encouraged to distribute the cards that are supplied in a manner that he or she deems fitting. Jeff Alexander, "post for 17 June 2002", 18 Jun 2002 - Q: Yeah, I know that it hasn't even come out yet, but I have more of a question about what is included in the packages. Here's what it says on the AEG website:
*****Contents: 6 Mantis Cards Boxes 1 Mantis Booklet 1 Mantis Poster 20 Moshi Miyaki Cards 15 Not Another Step Cards 10 Ten Koku Cards Cards*****
I just have to ask...what is the prize card? I know that Moshi Miyaki will have a foiled card as part of the prize, but what about the clan sword? Are the Mantis not getting a foiled clan sword because it was foiled in DA?
A: That is correct. Jeff Alexander, "post for 12 June 2002", 13 Jun 2002
