Rulings
- Does not destroy any Personalities in play. It just makes them all Unique. [DW, email, 11/3/98] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 27
- Multiple Unique Personalities may not be overlayed independently with different Experienced versions. [Reversal, JA, 31 August 2000] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 27
- The clause "(players may not bring a Personality with that name into play)" is just a reminder of the effects of Uniqueness and is not an effect on its own. If all copies of the now-Unique Personality leave play, a new one may be brought in. [Ibid.] Multiple Unique Personalities may all be overlayed independently with different Experienced versions since overlaying is not bringing a card into play. The person playing it may target any Personality in play, including his own. [card text] Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 45
- Thus it can be redirected by Shinjo Technique. The second choice of Personality is made by the controller of the first Personality affected, but must be someone controlled by the person who played the card. [card text] Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 45
- The second choice is optional. [card text] Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 45
Rules Q&A
- Q: [I]f two or more copies of the same Unique Personality are in play (say, after a One Life, One Destiny), they cannot be saved by "die briefly, but come back" (Feign Death, Kisada's Shrine) effects, right?
A: No (Diamond Edition rulesbook, pg. 56). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 27 October 2003", 28 Oct 2003 - Q: So what happens if I play One Life, One Destiny on Shiba Tsukune? Is she now a Non-Unique Unique personality?
A: She's now Unique. A card cannot both have and lack a trait at the same time, and One Life, One Destiny is the most recent effect on her. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 December 2002", 7 Dec 2002
