- Q: What about Otomo Motoshi? Do I gain honor for him no matter what my Clan is? A: No, because Motoshi, due to his carefully worded text, does not swear fealty until after he enters play. A: No. He does not swear fealty until after he enters play. You make the choice to reduce his cost by 2 or gain his Personal Honor while you are buying him. He isn't a member of your Faction yet. A: Just to clarify: The Experienced Ki-Rin's Shrine and Bayushi Yojiro do allow for additional honor gains, just not with Otomo Motoshi, who has no honor gaining potential. A: He will not gain the trait. The Shadowlands Faction does not have a trait that means "a member of the Shadowlands Faction", so there is no trait that he can gain. Not only that, but his effect counts as swearing fealty by his own card text, and most Shadowlands strongholds forbid their Personalities from doing that.
