Q: My opponent tries to Overwhelm me. Can I choose to send two units home, and since I'll choose the bowed person, cancel it using Balance in Nothingness?
A: Sure. You can freely make a valid decision, then modify its terms or cancel it with optional Reactions. Martin Lund, "Rules for 18-21 August 2004", 29 Aug 2004
Q: Hi, just asking again since noone responded...
Does Overwhelm target?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 2 June 2003", 3 Jun 2003
Q: Disagree. They must indicates they are the ones doing it. I would say from my point of view, if you want it worded in the way you are suggesting, that if the target wants to be at a battlefield, the COST is that they have to destroy a card in the unit without attachments... which is the whole point of the card... it's a deterrent to going to battlefields. But ultimately it's their choice. Does Lamentation negate Overwhelm too?
A: If Overwhelmed's player doesn't discard two cards, yep. Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 8 Oct 2024
Q: If an opponent uses Overwhelm and ring of earth, can you prevent the destruction of your berserker personality using Yaheiko Sensei?
A: Yes.
(Replying to a player: "The opponent will still have to destroy their highest personality right?") Do you mean the person who played Overwhelmed?
(Replying to a player: "Yes") Yes, they would. Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 12 Aug 2024
