Rules Q&A
- Q: Ok, say that I have Hoshi Chuichi out, and I play Purity of Spirit on an opposing Shadowlands personality. The card states "The caster need not bow if the target is Shadowlands". Can I bow him anyway, even though it says I need not?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 24 Feb. 2004", 26 Feb 2004 - Q: Ie. if I did this, then played a card such as Flee the Darkness or Purity of Spirit, does that satisfy the three spells and / or kiho's being cast?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 24 Feb. 2004", 26 Feb 2004 - Q: I trust Kansuke can also using Chasing Osano-Wo and Purity of Spirit?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 2 October 2003", 2 Oct 2003 - Q: Purity of Spirit is worded, "...the caster need not bow if the opposing personality has the Shadowlands trait..." So, that means you could still bow the caster if you wanted to, right? This is in regards to the new fixed Dragon monk from FOU (Hoshi Chichuih or something? I don't have him in front of me and he's not in Legendary yet...).
This is going on the assumption that I remember a ruling being made on him that you use his bowed chi to calculate effects from Kihos he casts.
So, can he elect to bow when casting Purity of Spirit when targeting an opposing Shadowlands personality so that he can bow a personality w/ <6 chi rather than <4 chi?
A: Yes, he can elect to do such a thing. Vaughn Derderian, "Rulings for January 5th", 6 Jan 2003 - Q: Say I cast a Wind's Truth or Purity of Spirit using Kaelung. Could my opponet react to this by playing investigation?
A: The traits of an action are only those of the card that the action is written on. [p. 34]. The Wind's Truth is merely a Political Kiho action, no matter who casts it. Jeff Alexander, "post for 22 August 2002", 23 Aug 2002
