- Tsuneo stood before the Emperor, sword in hand. "We who have been reborn will not return to Jigoku without a fight. Whether you kill us or whether we go willingly - it is all the same. We cannot ignore our duties, and you cannot ignore your honor." With those words the War of Spirits began.

Rules Q&A
- Q: Shadowed Tower puts it into your Fate deck "instead of discarding" it, but Quiet Tombs likewise causes the card to go somewhere else instead of the discard pile. You cannot put a card into your deck instead of your discard pile if it is not going into your discard pile to begin with.
And if the cards are going into your deck, then they aren't going to the discard pile, so Quiet Tombs never kicks in...
ST puts cards into your deck instead of the discard pile, QT puts cards out of play instead of the discard pile. Why isn't this a "two simultaneous and conflicting effects, so the active player decides" situation?
A: Due to the long-standing precedent that traits that alter or prevent a game effect take priority over reactions that do so. Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 March 2003", 27 Mar 2003 - Q: Does Quiet Tombs stop the Shadowed Towers reaction ability to recycle the action?
I'd say yes. The trait beats the Reaction.
Quick note on that one, Jeff. Shadowed Towers says "Instead of discarding", so does the card hit the discard pile ever?
A: Shadowed Tower puts it into your Fate deck "instead of discarding" it, but Quiet Tombs likewise causes the card to go somewhere else instead of the discard pile. You cannot put a card into your deck instead of your discard pile if it is not going into your discard pile to begin with. Jeff Alexander, "post for 25 March 2003", 26 Mar 2003 - Q: In particular in relation to Uona Sensei (only affects the opponent if they have her)and Quiet Tombs (affects both players)
A: These will both prevent the Action card from being retrieved. Jeff Alexander, "post for 24 March 2003", 25 Mar 2003 - Q: Does the Quiet Tombs region from Spirit Wars "have enough time" to remove an opponent's Vengeful Dead from the game, or does its remove effect happen simultaneously with the event reshuffling, making it the choice of the active player as to what happens to the event?
A: Vengeful Dead's player chooses whether to discard it or reshuffle it after it resolves. Only if she chooses to discard it would Quiet Tombs remove it from the game instead. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 January 2003", 30 Jan 2003 - Q: Even though Kisada's Shrine isn't quite here yet, I'll ask a question about it anyway:
A: Fine. Be aware I won't answer it in particular. Jeff Alexander, "post for 30 July 2002", 31 Jul 2002 - Q: If your opponent has Kisada's Shrine in play, and you have Quiet Tombs in play, what happens when you kill one of his samurai with Yu? Quiet Tombs takes cards headed for the discard pile and removes them from the game. Does Kisada's Shrine happen before the card gets to the discard pile or after? Because if it's after, I'd imagine that Quiet Tombs would render Kisada's Shrine powerless.
A: Under Quiet Tombs, any reaction that happens "after" a card is destroyed is rendered pretty much useless. Jeff Alexander, "post for 30 July 2002", 31 Jul 2002
