Rules Q&A
- Q: Can the Tactical action on Rage of Matsu move an attacking personality in their players home into the defending army? I say no, but I need your thoughts.
A: You are correct; without specific text allowing it, an Attacker's unit cannot be moved into the Defender's army, as per this rule:
http://rules.l5r.com/Sequence_of_play#Attack_Phase:_Declaration_Segment: "...a player other than the Defender who was not invited by the Defender can not have his or her units assign to the defending side, move into the defending side, or be brought into play on the defending side during a battle. This prohibition includes the Attacker and third-party players." Brook Cunningham, "rage of matsu", 13 Dec 2008 - Q: This card say that you can bring a personnality still at home in the defending army. My opponents bring some of my own personnality in his army, so i was forced to kill them ... Can he do that?
A: No he can't. Units controlled by players who aren't controlled by the Leader of that army or Allies of that Leader can't be in that Leader's army.
See here. Martin Lund, "Rage of Matsu", 17 Mar 2005 - Q: Can a defender play Rage of Matsu to target a tactician at home to bring it into the defending army?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rage of Matsu without presence", 14 Mar 2005 - Q: Can you change the target of Rage of Matsu from one of your personalities @home to one of your opponent's personalities @home with Misdirection?
A: Could you have picked your opponent's Personality in the first place? Then yes. If not, then no (Diamond rules, pg. 74). There are a couple of variables that aren't stated in the question that I'd need to give a more specific answer (like, which of the two abilities on Rage of Matsu are you talking about?).
