Rules Q&A
- Q: The Ratling Raider makes a pair of buddies when he comes into play. He doesn't say who gets to control those little guys, though.
A: "Creating a card or token counts as bringing it into play. [JA, 5 October 2000]" (Accumulated Rulings, "Entering Play")
You bring those two cards into play. There are no special instructions involved in the creating effect that dictate who gains control of them, so you use the general rule - you control cards you bring into play unless otherwise specified on a card or in the Rulebook. Martin Lund, "Rules for 18 October 2004", 22 Oct 2004 - Q: And the question : When I put a Ratling Raider into play, do I have the oportunity to use Setai Sensei on the two ratling personalitys created by the Ratling Raiders ?
A: No. While you are considered to be bringing the cards into play, "Before" you bring them into play (create them), they simply don't exist, and things that don't exist can't be Dishonored or given -1F permanently. Martin Lund, "Rules for 6 October 2004", 11 Oct 2004 - Q: Is the personality created by Companion Spirit perminent, or is it destroyed at the end of the turn? I ask because Ratling Raider says to perminently create the personalities whereas Companion Spirit does not.
A: Created cards remains in play indefinitely - just like any other card you bring into play - unless otherwise noted or acted upon (destroyed, etc.) Martin Lund, "Rules for 27 September", 29 Sep 2004 - Q: Ok with the tomorrow sensei coming out , Ratling Raiders Additional copies, when they die, they stay in your discard pile too?
A: Yes. They are cards, after all. They behave just like any other card. They ARE NOT tokens. Any stats that are not provided when the card is created (like Gold Cost and Honor Requirement) are set to 0 when the card is created. You can shuffle them back as 2/2 0/0/2 Ratling Creature Personalities. Martin Lund, "Rules for 10 August 2004", 13 Aug 2004 - Q: Scenario:
Goblin Wizard in fief, Ratling Raider in the current battle.
Can You? Announce Casting of Jinkoku's Rage Bow Bloodspeakers Sanctum to allow the Ratling Raiders to cast the Kiho, giving it the Bloodspeaker trait Target Ratling Raider (now a valid target) with Jinkoku's Rage Bow Goblin Wizard to cast Kiho
A: Yes. Announce the Jigoku's Rage. React to "before" it by using the Sanctum to make the Ratling Raider a legal caster. Use any legal caster to cast Jigoku's Rage - in this case, Goblin Wizard. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 July 2004", 7 Jul 2004 - Q: Cards: Te'tik'kir Experienced 2, Ratling Raider

Putting a card into play directly, "without gold cost," or by "waiving" its cost do not reduce the cost to zero.
Again, just double-triple checking. Using Tek's ability on the Raiders would bring them into play for free, because "ignoring all costs" is not a reduction. I ask this because some may see it as setting the gold value to zero (the case in Chi, Force, etc), but the rules say its not setting anything, just ignoring.
So, free Raiders. I am correct, yes?
A: There is no need to triple check. The question has been answered here. Zen Faulkes, "Cost ignorance, restrictions - double checking", 21 Mar 2005
