Rules Q&A
- Q: If I flip up Regions of Rokugan, do I have to reveal the region I fetch before I attach it?
A: Not before it is already attached and has entered play. No one sees the region until you attach it, because no card text instructs you to reveal it.
Get it, set it, and forget it. Martin Lund, "Rules for 17 May 2004", 19 May 2004 - Q: Regions of Rokugan:
May I choose to get a region, a copy of which is already in play on my side, and fail to put that region in play?
Yes.
It is known in advance that the attachment will fail. Why does it not fall under the following ruling from the archives?:
A: Because you're not being told to play a Region. You're being told to search your deck for a Region, then attach it to one of your Provinces that doesn't have one. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 9-10 March 2004", 11 Mar 2004 - Q: Regions of Rokugan:
May I choose to get a region, a copy of which is already in play on my side, and fail to put that region in play?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 8 March 2004", 9 Mar 2004 - Q: Finally, Lets say Regions of Rokugan is revealed in one of my provinces. I search through my deck for Plains of Otosan Uchi and attach it to the province Regions is being held in. I then put the second dynasty card into the same province. Regions finishes resolving and I discard it. Do I get to reveal the second dynasty card that is in the plains?
A: If you want. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 17 Feb. 2004", 19 Feb 2004 - Q: What happens to the dynasty card contained in the province where I put my Togashi's shrine (or Shinsei's shrine) at the resolution of Regions of Rokugan ?
A: Discarded. Precedent: Rules Archive, specific cards, Shinsei's Shrine. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 23 October 2003", 24 Oct 2003 - Q: b) Imperial Surveyor grabs a Shinsei Shrine and attaches it to a Province. Regions of Rokugan grabs Plains of Otosan-Uchi and attaches it. And vice-versa. What happens to the cards in those Provinces? Do they (the Provinces with the Regions) get new cards? How many?
A: A Province is refilled up to capacity at any time it holds less cards than that number. I'll see what the Rules Team says about when the capacity shrinks. Jeff Alexander, "post for 25 March 2002", 26 Mar 2002 - Q: And with Regions of Rokugan if the region I get is unique and in play or all my provinces are with regions attached?:
A: If you cannot attach it, it gets discarded. You are still allowed to get a Region which you know you will not be able to attach. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 November 2001", 30 Nov 2001 - Q: Plains of Otosan Uchi: Imperial Unique This Province is considered two Provinces for containing cards (but still one Province for targeting and during the Attack Phase). When this Province is destroyed, lose 10 Honor.
I) If I reveal Regions of Rokugan and attach Plains of Otosan Uchi to my rightmost province, I place the aditional card under Plains of Otosan Uchi inmediatly (then I face up in this turn), or at the end of Dinasty phase?
A: A Province which holds less than its maximum number of Dynasty cards at any time gets refilled immediately. Jeff Alexander, "post for 9 October 2001", 9 Oct 2001 - Q: I've forgotten the ruling on this, and I can't find it in the archives, so...
What happens if both players flip the same unique personality to Unexpected Allies?
What happens if both players get the same unique region (say Golden Sun Plain) to Regions of Rokugan?
A: The active player flips a card or gets a Region first, then go around the table in turn order. This is in the FAQ. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for early March, 2001", 14 Mar 2001
