Rules Q&A
- Q: Will Ieshige bow if I target him with relentless assult with my personality with Yu 3 or it will not affect him due to his trait to gain 1 force?
A: Ieshige will have his Force Bonus added before Relentless Assault applies its modified Fear effect against him. If that makes him 4F vs. Fear 3, he won't bow. Martin Lund, "Rules for 3 May 2004", 6 May 2004 - Q: Will Ieshige bow if I target him with relentless assult with my personality with Yu 3 or it will not affect him due to his trait to gain 1 force?
A: If you play "Relentless Assault" against a unit lead by a 3F Akodo Ieshige, Ieshige's trait will trigger before the effects of the Relentless Assault resolve. Consequently, when you try to apply Fear 3 to Ieshige as if he were a follower, you'll be comparing Fear 3 vs. 4 Force, and Ieshige won't bow. Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 May 2004", 5 May 2004 - Q: card says that his force become twice his printed force. Is this considered a bonus ?
A: If his total Force goes up, then yes. [GE p. 31] Jeff Alexander, "post for 31 March 2003", 1 Apr 2003 - Q: Admittedly, this trait could be called "Horseshoes" and have no rulebook text at all. It would be almost as good. Yu, as originally designed, was a terrible failure.
A: It looks that way because players keep trying to use it as an offensive asset when it isn't. Jeff Alexander, "post for 31 July 2002", 1 Aug 2002
