Rulings
- Straightening a Personality only occurs once for each player. [ZF, JA, 8 December 2003] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 65
- Q: Let's say my Shugenja really is a Water Shugenja. If she casts Renewed Energy, does this straighten every Personality in play? A: No. The Spell applies to "each player" "in turn order" "beginning with the player to your left". Just like with Occult Murders and Rain of Blood, this does not continue around the table indefinitely. Once it has applied to each player, the effect is done. If the caster is not a Water Shugenja, there is a possibility of the Spell's effect ending early, but even in the best cases it cannot straighten more than one Personality per player. Rules Q&A
- Q: Couple questions: 1 - Isawa Wazuko has the water trait for purpose of Renewed Energy?
A: She does not have the Water trait for any purposes. Only her action has that trait. Traits on a card's actions do not apply to the entire card UNLESS it's an Action card (or Kiho, which is technically an Action card). Jeff Alexander, "rules for 19 March 2004", 20 Mar 2004 - Q: If it requires the water trait (like Renewed Energy full power) it can't be isawa wazuka cause her ability has the water trait but not her?
A: Correct. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 19 March 2004", 20 Mar 2004 - Q: One of my opponent's personalities has been targetted by my Ninja Kidnapper when Renewed Energy goes off. If he has enough unbowed gold, and no other unbowed personalities, is he forced to pay to unbow his kidnapped personality?
A: No. You can't take an Open action in the middle of resolving another action. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 9 December 2003, Part 2", 10 Dec 2003 - Q: Each player has to straighten a Personality if possible, correct?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 9 December 2003", 9 Dec 2003 - Q: [D]oes this spell:
A) Unbow a maximum of one personality per player per casting (assuming you don't run into the "stop" clause?)
B) Unbow multiple people per player per casting, until you run into the stop clause (and unbowing everyone if you have it attached to a Water shugenja?)
A: A. "Each player... straightens one." Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 8 December 2003", 8 Dec 2003
