Rules Q&A
- Q: Pertaining to Akodo Shigetoshi Exp (Khan's Defiance) and Resumed Hostilities (Samurai), if the ability that Shigetoshi gives all tacticians that a player controls is removed by resumed hostilities, would his trait immediately give it back to the personality that it was removed from?
A: No.
http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Continuous_traits: "If an effect granted by a continuous trait is negated or undone by another cost or effect, the continuous trait does not immediately apply again." Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Shigetoshi Exp and Resumed Hostilities", 27 Apr 2009 - Q: If we are at Battle 1, can he use (Resumed Hostilities) to target units in Battle 2? As long as he has Presence at battle 1 and 2.
A: http://rules.l5r.com/Battles#Choose_Battlefield: "The Rule of Location: ... Any cards in units must be at the current battlefield to be legally targeted by a Battle action." Emphasis added.
No. Zen Faulkes, "Resumed Hostilities and location", 30 Jan 2008 - Q: Battle: Target a Personality opposing one of your Personalities. Remove one of the target’s abilities. Draw a card. If you removed an ability, you may take an additional Battle action from a card in your hand.
A: The Equip action granted by the rulebook is not an action from a card in your hand. Chris Fuchs, "Resumed Hostilities", 21 Sep 2007 - Q: Can my oponent use Reinforce The Gates on the battle I gained after using Resumed Hostilities on a naval invasion/sneak attack?
Ex: I declare naval invasion and anounce Resumed Hostilities, my oponent doesn't react with Reinforce The Gates so I remove a ability from a oposing peep, draw a card and then make another battle from Resumed, can he use Reinforce on that?
I assume it's possible since he didn't have the chance to act.
Thanks in advance.
Resumed Hostilities:
Battle: Target a Personality opposing a Personality you control. Remove one of his abilities, if possible. Draw a card. If you removed an ability, you may take an additional Open or Battle action to play a legal card from your hand.
Reinforce The Gates:
Reaction: After a player announces a Battle or Open action during a battle before the Defender’s first normal opportunity to act or pass: Negate the action’s effects.
A: Yes, because he still has not had a normal opportunity to take an action or pass. Chris Fuchs, "Reinforce The Gates + Resumed Hostilities", 21 May 2007
