If I start a duel using this and switch it to another Double Chi peep using Kyuden Doji, would that new peep get the use of double chi if they had it?

I ask because of the line "The Double Chi trait works as usual" on JoT. Maybe I'm being too much of a literalist, but it seems like this works.
