- Erratum: Reads, "Right Hand of the Emperor Political Battle: If you control an opposed Personality at the current battlefield, discard the Imperial Favor: Target a unit you control. Move it to the current battlefield. Political Limited: Once per turn, target a Personality you control, and discard a card: Target any number of face-up non-Personality cards in your Provinces. Put them on the bottom of your deck and refill the Provinces face-up." [MRP, Lotus Edition, 31 October 2005] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 154
- Q: If one of my cards is "sent home bowed" and I use something like Right Hand of the Emperor to negate the movement, does the bowing effect still happen because it's separate? A: No. If a card is sent home bowed but it doesn't move, it doesn't bow either. This is an exception to the usual rule that all effects are separate and happen independently. (The rulebook is supposed to clear this up on page 72, but it confusingly says "do not move the card" where it should say "do not bow the card".) Legend of the Five Rings FAQ, April 26, 2004, p. 5
Rules Q&A
- Q: I never saw an answer to my Prophet's Tower/Right Hand of the Emperor question. To refresh:
A: Prophet's Tower's effect is the same as that of the Rulebook's one returning attacking units home bowed at the end of Battle Resolution. Neither effect is considered "movement" or "moving." Right Hand of the Emperor is no help against it. Martin Lund, "Rules for 22 June 2004", 25 Jun 2004 - Q: I declare an attack, and Enko, during the infantry assignment phase, is assigned to defend province (a). Since I'm sneaky, I assign Fushin, during the cavalry assignment phase, to province (b). If I resolve the battle at province (b), and then use Fushin to 'take control' of Hida Enko, can he then react with the movement negation ability of the Right Hand of the Emperor in this situation? Does the change of control occur before the movement, meaning that my control of her nullifies my opponents', and thus making her an illegal target? (She's not his anymore)
A: See! All Fushin does is ruin my life!
I'm going to catch that lousy little onisu and rip off all 4 of his arms and beat his stupid looking face in with the bloody stumps! >:(
... um ... and in other news I'm forwarding this to Jeff. Martin Lund, "Rules for 26 April 2004", 29 Apr 2004 - Q: So, true or false, for Archive purposes.
The Right Hand of the Emperor can negate the movement of a unit which has been targeted by Wedge.
A: True. The Reaction on Right Hand of the Emperor can Negate a movement Effect which would've moved a Unit targeted by Wedge. Martin Lund, "Rules for 21 April 2004", 23 Apr 2004 - Q: 4.) Refugees and Right Hand of the Emperor
Since the effects are seperate, and I use the Right hand's ability to negate the send home, do I also have the option to place a 1F follower token on the target personality? The only effects I've negated is the send home/bowing, not the secondary effect of placing a 1F token. Or, would "sending home bowed" be a cost to having that effect?
A: Yes, you may buy a 1F Follower token. Martin Lund, "Rules for 13 April 2004", 14 Apr 2004 - Q: Can Tsuruchi Nobumoto use his Ranged Attack and then when he is moving out of the battle can the Right Hand of the Emperor be used to negate his movement?
A: Yes. Sending a unit home is movement. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 26 March 2004", 29 Mar 2004 - Q: can you use the 2nd ability on the Right Hand of the Emperor in the same way against Encircled Terrain?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 1 December 2003, Part 2", 2 Dec 2003 - Q: Hi,
Can you use the Right Hand of the Emperor's ability to move an opponents personality to the current battlefield if you have a Traditionalist in play? Do you need to have an opposed personality to target an opponents personality with this? Can you use this if you are attacking and unopposed to harpoon an opponent's personality at home?
Right Hand of the Emperor's ability reads: Favor Political Repeatable Battle: If you control an opposed Personality at the current battlefield, discard the Imperial Favor to move your target Personality at any location there.
Traditionalist's trait reads: You may not play other Allegiance cards. Your Favor actions may target your Personalities as well as other players'.
Thanks
A: Traditionalist expands the range of legal targets of your Favor action that can only target other players' Personalities, such that the action can also target your Personalities.
It has no effect on actions for which only your Personalities are legal targets: "as well as" does not mean "and". Alex Jones, "(Legacy) Right Hand of The Emperor + Traditionalist", 26 Aug 2015
