Rules Q&A
- Q: If I am playing a Rising Sun Blade with the ability on Farthest East Fortress and I target a Paragon to bow, what happens when my opponent plays Iron Will?
A: Iron Will says, "The action's cost are ignored and its effects are negated." This does not work retroactively, so, if Iron Will is played during action resolution due to optional targeting, costs are not refunded and instantaneous effects are not reversed, although ongoing effects are negated.
Farthest Fortress says: Battle: Choose your performing unbowed Personality:You may attach a Weapon from your hand to him. You may then target and bow an enemy Personality with lower Force. If you attached a Weapon and bowed a Personality, draw a card.
Everything up to the targeting happens, but the bowing of the targeted Paragon is negated. Attaching a card to a Personality is an instantaneous effect, so this is not undone. Alex Jones, "Iron Will and Farthest East Fortress", 14 May 2011 - Q: While i was playing l5r last night, i hear two players discussing weather or not Rising Sun Blade, can destroy Terrains. the rules say that a terrain is not discarded when it is played, so it is in the battlefield and in play so it could be targeted by rising sun blade correct? are there any thing else this card can target besides the obvious items, followers, spells and personalities? like regions? or celestial cards?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_T#Terrain: "A Terrain is not in any side or army; thus, it is never an enemy or opposing card." Emphasis added.
As Rising Sub Blade is limited to enemy cards...
No. Zen Faulkes, "Rising Sun Blade", 28 Apr 2011 - Q: I didn't see anything about this on the forums.
Can Rising Sun Blade destroy a Weapon, Armor, or Item provided that the Attachment in question has less than 5 Force? In simple terms, can RSB be used to destroy Chagatai's Armor?
Thank you for your time.
A: That's pretty much what a "card without attachments and with 5 or lower Force" means. Alex Jones, "Rising Sun Blade vs Other Weapons and Attachments", 9 Feb 2011
