Rules Q&A
- Q: [6]. Ruby of Iuchiban + Dead
If I target a personality and dies remainf the ruby effects on him while the ruby remains bowed? What if returns to play with a Feign Death or Shrine to Tsukune?
A: The effect will continue even if the victim leaves play. However, cards that are not in play are neither bowed, nor unbowed. Further, most cards enter play unbowed.
With Feign Death, you are told that your Personality returns to play bowed. Shrine to Tsukune does not say this (if I recall correctly), so the Personality would enter play unbowed, but still be unable to Straighten. Martin Lund, "Rules for 11 December 2004", 13 Dec 2004 - Q: Can you Tireless Assualt a personality that is effected by the Ruby of Iuchiban.
A: Tireless will move the unit and straighten any cards it can, but victim of the Ruby still can't straighten. Martin Lund, "Rules for 28 November 2004", 30 Nov 2004 - Q: This just came up witha friend of mine. I played the ruby, and next turn as a limited action (because i believe you have to wait to your next limited phase to use it's action)
A: You don't. There are no "summoning sickness" rules in L5R. You are in your Action Phase, and it has a Limited action on it. You can use it immediately. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 24 March 2004", 26 Mar 2004 - Q: One more Ruby of Iuchiban question...
Let's say I attach the Ruby, bow my guy, and bow an opponent's personality, and somehow, later in the turn, my opponent's bowed personality gets killed.
During his Action Phase (assuming the Ruby personality is still bowed) can he discard a card to destroy the Ruby? If so, would he still use the Personal Honor of the personality (now in the discard pile) to calculate the necessary Focus Value?
A: Yes and yes. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 12 March 2004", 13 Mar 2004 - Q: if the target personality is dead before the opponent action phase can he discard a card to destroy the ruby? does the personnality stiil add its personnal honor? same question if the personality is removed from the game
A: Yes ("While the Ruby remains bowed and in play"), yes (a card's stats don't change in the discard pile), and yes (the target's last known Personal Honor value is used). Zen Faulkes, "Ruby of Iuchiban", 10 Mar 2005
