Rules Q&A
- Q: If I have an Ruins of Otosan Uchi and my opponet has a Plains of Otosan Uchis in play. What happens if I destroy his Plains with Ruins?
A: You go to the Rules Archive (which, luckily, is nowhere near Rich Wulf's office and thus has no distracting crowds) and look under "Plains of Otosan Uchi". There, you will read: "If the Region is destroyed directly, no honor is lost and the Region's controller must discard one of the two Dynasty cards of his choice." Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 10 April 2003", 11 Apr 2003 - Q: 2) If I have the Ruins of Otosan-Uchi region attached to a Province, and I flip another region face-up in the same Province, can I decide not to toss the new region long enough to use the Ruins to nuke a region and disappear? If so, can I then hold the new region in the Province until next round and attach it?
A: Regions that cannot enter play do not get automatically discarded. If you want to get rid of them and make way for another card, you normally have to wait for your Dynasty Phase. If you decide to keep the Region in the Province instead, it can come into play at the end of any subsequent Events Phase if it's still in the Province and attaching it is legal.
By the way, notice how you can use Ruins of Otosan-Uchi to destroy itself, since targets are chosen before costs are paid. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 April 2003", 9 Apr 2003
