Rules Q&A
- Q: 2. Re Savagery of Moto and Plains of Otosan Uchi If Savagery is used by the attacker to switch Plains of OU into the defender's province, and this province is then destroyed, who loses the 10 Honour? I think it's the attacker, since he would still control the Plains regardless of where they are, and the text of Plains doesn't give any reason to suppose that anyone other than their controller would suffer the honour loss.
A: Correct conclusion.
Correct explanation.
We have a winner. :) Martin Lund, "Rules for 14 December 2004", 20 Dec 2004 - Q: 2) I attack, using Savagery of Moto to switch in my Plains of Otosan Uchi. I get sent home. Does my opponent get to put two cards into that province?
A: He has to add a second card to the Province immediately upon having Plains attached to the Province. Martin Lund, "Rules for 9 December 2004", 12 Dec 2004 - Q: Savagery of Moto : Battle: If you are a Unicorn Clan player, target a Personality you do not control in the current battle and a Personality with the same controller at a different location. Switch their locations. Battle: Target a Region you control and a Region attached to the current Province. Move them to each others' Provinces until the battle ends.
And the question :
What Happens to the regions if one of the province is detroyed during the resolution step of the battle ?
A: When the effect ends, the cards would go back to where they originally came from, if possible. Any Region that can't be moved back where it came from stays where it is until such a move is possible - just like if a rule prevents you from returning a "borrowed" card in the case of Otomo Ambassador or Show of Good Faith and the Singular trait.
So, if a Province is destroyed, the Region that used to be there can't move back there, so it remains. Most likely, the Region that was Destroyed will consequently be unable to move back to the other Province as it already has the other region there. If it is ever legal to move the Region to that province later in the game (not very likely, but it could happen), you must immediately move it there.
The basic rule here is this: "If you can't put it back where you took it from when the effect ends, it stays put until you can put it back." Martin Lund, "Rules for 1 December 2004", 6 Dec 2004 - Q: I am a Unicorn defending a province. I use Savagery of Moto to switch a region under a Shinjo Subuto for a Shamate Pass. I then bring Subuto into the battle. I know I won't gain honor, but what will Subuto's personal honor be?
A: If Subuto was face-up, his Personal Honor won't change because he was revealed before Shamate Pass was attached to that Province. Zen Faulkes, "Shamate Pass, Subuto, and Savagery of Moto", 25 Mar 2005 - Q: Does action that 'switch locations of units' is considered to be 'moving' units in/out battle/ home ?
A: Archive, General, Battle, Action segment. Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Savagery of Moto", 9 Mar 2005 - Q: When SoM is played for second action (swap regions) and then one province with 'swapped' region is destroyed, what happens to the other region ?
A: It stays where it is. Control has never changed. Zen Faulkes, "Savagery of Moto", 9 Mar 2005 - Q: (W)hen Switching two units, does the one that goes home count as being 'sent' home?
A: See here. Zen Faulkes, "Savagery of Moto / Mihoko Sensei", 9 Mar 2005
