Rulings
- Enables the Attacker to use any effect that puts a terrain into play. [DW, 6/10/96] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 46
- The Scout's effect may be used after a Sneak Attack, because the Defender still has not taken his first action. [Card text, and DW, 3/11/97] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 46
- A canceled Terrain played by a Scout counts for the Attacker's opportunity to act (i.e., play a Terrain); a second Terrain may not be immediately played. [ZF, 6 July 2003] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 46
- Refers only to itself, not all "scout" cards by the Foo Rule. [DW, personal correspondence, 2/13/99] [REVERSAL of a private email ruling] Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 51
- Q: Can I use a Scout to play a Terrain through the Armor of Sun Tao or Oracle of Earth? A: Yes. Legend of the Five Rings FAQ, May 21, 2003, p. 10
- Q: Can the Defender turn a battle into a naval invasion? A: Yes. He doesn't get to take two actions in a row, since the only time the order of actions changes is when the Attacker makes the battle naval, but the other two special rules still hold. This is a good way to prevent someone from using a Sneak Attack or Scout against you. The Imperial Herald, Vol. 2, No. 4, p. 18
