Rulings
- Multiples played on one unit are not cumulative, because all result in the controller being allowed to cancel an action exactly once. [ZF, 20 April 2003] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 31
Rules Q&A
- Q: Personalities assigning to attack are already in an army for purpose of having the Tactician Trait with Kenson Gakka?
A: Well, for the purposes of anything, really. It is all or nothing.
Once a unit is successfully assigned, it is either Attacking or Defending a Province, and thusly is considered to be in an Army. Martin Lund, "Rules for 12 April 2004", 13 Apr 2004 - Q: The question is: Can I use the reaction Scouting Maneuvers with any lion with more than 2 chi with Kenson Gakka?
A: Scouting Maneuvers says, "Target one of your Scouts or Tacticians after assigning it to a Province."
After a unit is assigned, its cards are definitely part of an Army. That will qualify your non-Tactician Lion Clan - Samurai - with greater than 2 Chi for the Tactician trait from Kenson Gakka. That means they are eligible to use Scouting Maneuvers after they are assigned to the Province. Martin Lund, "Rules for 12 April 2004", 13 Apr 2004 - Q: Can Keen Eye negate Scouting [Maneuvers]?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 17 November 2003", 18 Nov 2003 - Q: Can a scouting maneuvers cancel an overwhelmed played by your opponent?
A: Yes (card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 19 October 2003", 19 Oct 2003 - Q: how does Scouting Maneuvers fit into this? if I target my unit with Overwhelmed can I cancel my destruction and still have my opponent do his portion of the action[?]
A: No. See Gold rules, pg. 45, and Rules Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 27 June 2003, Part 2", 28 Jun 2003 - Q: Since english is not what I know the most I use to have such doubts.... This one was when I was playing Scouting Maneuvers.
The text says that I have to target a personality "after" assigning him/her to a province.... Since it says "after" can I wait until my opponent decides to block or not to block?
A: No. You must play a Reaction as soon as the opportunity exists. [GE p. 48] So a Reaction that gets used "after" something happens must be used immediately after. You cannot wait for an arbitrary point later in the turn. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 June 2003", 6 Jun 2003
