- Cost reduction only applies to Spells put into play with Scroll Cache. [JA, 2 June 2003] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 31
Rules Q&A
- Q: If I play with Kyuden Agasha, am I able to play the spell The Wolf's Proposal for 0 gold after playing Scroll Cache?
A: Yes. Kyuden Agasha will not reduce the Gold cost of a Spell that only costs 1g to begin with. This allows Scroll Cache's discount to happen. Jeff Alexander, "post for 28 April 2003", 29 Apr 2003 - Q: Does scroll cache's cost reduction last until the end of the turn?
Yes.
Jeff, if this is the case, when do you draw your cards? After the first spell you attach? We've always played it that you play Scroll Cache, attach any spells you want for 1 less gold, and once you draw your cards the effect ends. I take it this is incorrect?
A: No, that's right. You attach as many Spells as you want from your hand, with a 1 Gold reduction on those Spells (and ONLY on those) that lasts until the end of the turn, and then you draw. Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 March 2003", 21 Mar 2003 - Q: If I have Kyuden Agasha and I play Scroll Cache, Wich is the cost reduction effect that I have to use?
A: Like the Warrens, the discount on Spells from Kyuden Agasha starts as soon as the game begins, and is not optional. Since it's a cost reduction and it's already in effect when you play Scroll Cache, Cache does not give you any further reduction. Jeff Alexander, "post for 21 November 2002", 22 Nov 2002 - Q: Glory of the Shogun is in play, and I play Scroll Cache to attach a 5 cost spell (that then has it's cost reduced to four). Does the reduction in cost for the spell expire before Glory of the Shogun checks to see if I draw a card for the attachment having a gold cost greater than four?
A: Glory of the Shogun checks what you actually paid. Zen Faulkes, "Cost Reduction, Glory of the Shogun", 20 Nov 2005 - Q: My stronghold is Kyuden Agasha, I play Scroll Cache and attach Purge the Weak. How much gold do I have to play?
A: This one: Zen Faulkes, "Scroll Cache", 31 Mar 2005 - Q: I have Sezaru in play. Can I play scroll cache from my hand and use that to attach a spell from the top of my deck?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Isawa Sezaru and Scroll Cache", 23 Mar 2005
