Rules Q&A
- Q: Is it legal to play Shadow Plays on Blowdarts for the force pump, making the force bonus immune to Shameful Injury? If so, is it also legal to use Takaharu's reaction to redirect an action that would target blowdarts, if the new target would be a legal choice?
A: Yes and yes.
There is no rule that limits "Ninja" to a particular card type. Zen Faulkes, "Shadow Plays - Takaharu - Keyword Interaction", 13 Apr 2011 - Q: Regarding this thread: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=89320
In that case, does the reference to 'another player's action' apply to the original owner (as he is another player compared with the owner of Wannyudo before it enters the discard) or of the ninja owner (the reference to another player being examined only after it reaches the discard)?
A: Like all abilities, the text is read from the point of view of the player taking the action. Thus, "another player's action" means an action taken by any player other than the owner of Wanyudo. Alex Jones, "Wanyudo and Shadow Plays", 7 Mar 2011 - Q: If a ninja has taken my Wanyudo with Shadow Plays, and I then destroy Wanyudo, can the ninja player use the dead follower's reaction to remove a card of mine from the game?
Relevant Text:
Wanyudo: After this card enters play: Lose 4 Honor. Reaction: After the resolution of another player's Battle action that destroyed this card or its Personality: Target a card without attachments in an enemy unit at the current battlefield. Remove it from the game.
Thanks
A: No.
Wanyudo's Reaction can only be used from the discard pile (in general), which means it can only be taken by its owner, regardless of who its former was. Alex Jones, "Wanyudo and Shadow Plays", 7 Mar 2011 - Q: Hello team! Was just getting ready for the Harare Kotei today and wanted to go over a few questions that I believe are going to come up during the games, I checked the FAQ and searched for these and to the best of my knowledge these questions have not yet been asked.
1: If I play Impromptu duel targeting my personality with 5 ch and target my opponent's 3 chi personality my opponent focuses twice and I focus three times. we each only focused 4 fv cards with no focus effects, leaving me with a total of 17 and my opponent with 11. After I gain my honor and his personalty dies what happens?
2: Is the Ban on Mugina Gang going to be in effect?
3: If my opponent and I get into a physical confrontation, since Shadow Plays reads Battle: Give your target Ninja +2f can it target me since I am A: In a "battle" and B "A Ninja." Do I count as my own ninja to meet the text target "YOUR" ninja or would I have to have some sort of ninja minion with me?
4: If my opponent is a Dragon does he start with the imperial favor? No not a human playing the clan, I mean a freakin' scary fire breathing monster sitting across the table from me. I do not believe so but I really do not wish upset one.
5: If my opponent has out Bayushi Paneki XP 3 who has Other players’ hands are face-up. You may take Limited actions as well as Open actions during other players’ Action Phases. Limited: If it is your turn: Target a card in your hand and a card in another player’s hand. Switch them. If I play Mind slaver which has the text 4, T, Sacrifice Mindslaver: You control target player's next turn. (You see all cards that player could see and make all decisions for the player. He or she doesn't lose life because of mana burn.) If I manage to somehow play it, do I get to see my own hand via paneki's ability.

A: Your post is titled "Rules question", so I'm only obligated to answer one.
4. Yes, if he's also using a Dragon Clan Stronghold. But I wouldn't argue the point if he's not playing such a Stronghold. In that case, call a judge. Preferably one without a family. Brook Cunningham, "Rules question", 1 Apr 2010
